It's not dying. But the LinkedIn feed has become a wasteland of false positivity and phony "inspirational" posts by people with no real professional skills. Just keep it and monitor your inbox for recruiter messages. That's all you need it for.
Rising Star
It’s becoming like Facebook
Is that what Facebook is though? Haven’t been on Facebook in 8~ years or so…
Is it dying tho?
Rising Star
Maybe I should have said morphing into something instead of dying
Stronger than ever. And no alternative platform. Don’t think anyone should try and create an alternative to LI - won’t work (unless you’ve Bezos behind you with unlimited resources).
Different. Spotify was able to launch using $$ only, add 1m songs and you’re good to go with a solid platform that offers a lot. For a LI alternative… it’s only kicking off and of value for us if there’s already a big group of professionals on it. Much harder to implement.
I feel like LinkedIn and Facebook provide a case study in the convergent evolution of social media and a new platform would gravitate towards the status quo eventually

I've had 9 jobs over my 25+ yrs of professional work experience. 6 of those jobs have been through LinkedIn job postings, and the other 3 have leaned heavily on my profile, including my most recent (2021), where my interviewers cruised my profile at least a dozen times through the various interview cycles. It ain't dying IMO. The feed is worthless. But the network info on LinkedIn unmatched. Good luck if you think you can do better.
Dying?
Rising Star
It’s not dead yet. Most of us still use it.

Which means Linkedin is doing better There is no substitute for your actual human network
Have not found any other powerful ways of networking other than picking up the phone and calling people directly than LinkedIn. It's not dying but has become more social vs business which is annoying.
Polywork is well funded from smart money, is for sure trying to be the nex gen linkedin. The design choice is a little weird though.
Is it?
What kind of checks and balances would you like to see?
That is a highly subjective filter
