Not sure what you’re looking at but most marketing includes all hair colors and body types at this point

“To celebrate different shapes and colors” and not miss out on other addressable markets? Yeah, the beauty/retail industry is working harder, but people’s perception/self-image issues related to not belonging to that category of women still persist and are being talked about all over social media too.
This is definitely the mentality we need to promote around people’s individual aesthetic choices #notliketheothergirls

I realize I don't use social media other than this and LinkedIn, but where are you seeing these complaints? I've seen complaints about applying historically white beauty standards to everyone, which is absolutely BS and needs to go ASAP, but I personally haven't seen much about blond hair and I'm curious the context of what you're seeing. I think what color looks good depends on the person - some people can wear many colors, others have fewer options that both look good on them and that they like (I would put myself in this category).

As someone who is 40+ and naturally light blonde since birth, I think part of the “appeal” of blonde hair is that it’s rare. Lots of people are blonde as kids (“towheads”) but their hair gets darker starting in their teens and early 20s. Going blonde is often a way for women to try for a more youthful look - with varying measures of success.
I’ve sat in my hairstylist’s chair many times and had other stylists’ clients point to me, telling their stylists “that’s what I want,” only to be told it won’t look good on their olive skin tone (I’m very fair-skinned, with pale blue eyes and blonde brows & lashes, too).
The truth is, if you’re naturally brunette and you can get a tan, going really blonde will start to make you look old in your 30s. There’s no real benefit to blonde hair - if it’s natural, you probably can’t spend much time in the sun and have to be super-vigilant about sun protection. If your blonde comes from the salon, the upkeep is expensive and time-consuming.
