I got my first job through it and went back two years after to look at books and I saw this happening. Basically, young POC trying to get a foot in were the original targets but then young white kids heard about it and came. It’s not explicitly for POC and you obviously can’t bar them, so there you go. They Christopher Columbused it.

So it's a career fair called Here Are All the Black People?? Spelled all lower case and not knowing about this makes it impossible to decipher

Just the thought of a bunch of white people boldly going to an event called Here Are All the Black People has me both laughing and weeping. Should not be surprise though.

I cannot figure out what you're asking...

And in regards to your original question, OP: it’s a fucked up situation. Young POC who are looking for a leg up get sold a book which may not do them any good by a (probably) White guy who is relying on their naïveté to hawk his “knowledge.”

I'm white. In my opinion, the only white people at HAATBP should be there to recruit and hire. If you're white and looking for work this is not the job fair for you.

I was just at here are all the black people. Over half the students there looking for work were white. It’s a sharp departure from the last two years, considering it’s a career fair centered around hiring diverse employees Is that more clear?

I got it!!! Well it's a generational trend. It's trendy to be where all the brothas and sistas be at

Thank you! Very nice

Anyone have a recruiter reach out to you, get your resume and such via email and submit to a job and then just disappear? I am working with a different recruiter now and I know my resume was submitted to a job but I’m a little perturbed that this person has not been speaking with me and we haven’t had a verbal conversation. I am afraid I made a huge mistake in using them and it was only for one job but I don’t want to lose out on an opportunity because they are in the wind…

I haven’t done freelance work in while, since I got burned by a “friend” of a friend. I just had someone who is a gamer with 4000 subscribers ask me to update his profile picture/mostly the text in his name/title (he likes his current picture). How do I even charge for that and make sure I get paid?

Please help me understand something. I see posts where someone junior is offered a much more senior role, without experience. I don’t understand how an individual can be successful in a role that is often 2+ levels above their current one. And how does an employer offer such a role to someone without any experience at near that level? Example: “I’m a Sr. Analyst with 3 YOE and been offered a Director’s role at XYZ”. Never managed a team, much less an entire project or group. What am I missing?
