Some partners are so stupid. In a free market system, if you want the good associate to work for you, you need to be a nice person. Otherwise, I have enough partners to feed me work and you’re the source of your own problem.

What’s the consensus on tattoos in the insurance workplace? I’m in leadership and considering exploring my options due to recent personnel changes. I work remote and have arm sleeves, and any time I would be in-person I’d of course wear a long sleeve shirt to be professional, but worry about a cuff rolling up and tattoos being somewhat visible. Nothing is offensive by any means.

How do you deal with some mild sexism at a startup that has no real HR?

Mild as in there’s just passing comments about me, I’m the only woman on the team, I’m steamrolled a ton in conversation and generally made to feel stupid/awkward. I’m fairly outgoing and outspoken as well, never felt this way at ANY company before.

I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. But for some important holidays and my birthday, I told him we should spend time together. He just said it’s more important for him to bond with his classmates and ignore my ask. It’s really disappointing and I don’t know what else to tell him. Is that a reasonable ask or am I being dramatic?
