Ski rentals are kind of a rip off— it might be worth going to a locally owned ski shop and finding a deal. Some places you can get a new set of pretty decent skis with bindings for $350 after tax, boots can be another ~$200. Ski bag off of Amazon is like ~$50. $600 total.
Rentals are typically ~$75/day, so to get a ROI you need to ski 8 days over your lifetime.
Not totally answering your question I know, but just some food for thought!
Agree with the majority of the above except for the skis price if you’re anything above an intermediate skier. Not worth spending that little on skis you’ll probably outgrow in a year or two - would recommend spending around $5-600 on a deal in the off season for skis thag will last you years
