I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?
Taking it to the next level. 🎂😅
Carol Baskin, amarite!?
This is so reassuring!

Not that familiar but I am fairly sure we don’t have a Federal practice yet, of a size that anyone talks about anyway. I expect we’ll go after it at some point. No idea who their big clients are there
Lets start w a few basics. Slalom people with the title consultant had titles that range from consultant to senior manager at their previous companies.
We are flexible with our schedules but i don't think i have seen anyone permanently move to a 4 day week. My guess is that if your client supports it and after a few months the local office would support that for a limited time (ie the summer).
Did that answer your "other roles" question
SC1 - Thanks! What I meant was roles such as corporate or “non consulting” roles. Accenture has corporate functions and internal roles that consultants can move to.
I would add that progression can be as fast or slow as you want. There’s not really an up or out culture. If you want a promotion you can be whatever you want if the market you’re in needs it, you just have to own the plan and make it happen. That can be frustration if you’re used to the idea of a “promotion year” - that’s a totally alien concept here. Re: schedule, I work with someone now who is officially 4 days/wk. Client has to OK it but internally it’s a non-issue.
Just saw your follow-up - yes there are internal roles and yes you can in theory transfer into them. I’m in a medium sized market and honestly there aren’t that many. There’s some internal work but mostly it’s bus dev, recruiting, or leadership. I’m sure it varies by market and HQ would have more
Thanks 🙏 for the tips
SC1 or 2 - any insights on your VA office? Is it Federal clients only? Commercial in VA would be nice
