Magnesium is what weened me off of my sleep sedative rx. Careful on dosage as it also helps your digestion. I take 200 mg before bed.

like

Read a paperback book!

Magnesium L Threonate and L-Theanine an hour before bedtime. I switched to these instead of melatonin, since I had read some papers critiquing the inconsistent dosage of commercially available products, as well as concerns about the dependency in terms of regulating natural melatonin production in the body.

Heard about these two from Andrew Huberman professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology on everyone's favorite podcast lol

like

I second this. Melatonin makes me sleep really deep for a few hours then I’m wide awake the rest of the night. But magnesium with L-Theanine helps significantly and also helps reduce stress and anxiety.

A big glass of red wine. However in addition to that, I have also found that listening to an audiobook helps me focus on something other than my anxiety around night time. I put it on with a 30inute sleep timer and am always asleep by the time it turns off. I would suggest choosing a book you aren't too invested in.

I do a lot of things to improve my crappy sleep. I cannot use MJ because it's still federally illegal so my employer also doesn't allow it because it risks contracts. So I have developed the following routine : 1) bedroom is a cave. Remove any stray light, using 2 sets of offset blackout curtains, no screens or indicator lights or anything. I use multiple layers of painter's tape to cover the LEDs on my fans, etc.,andy my alarm clock has a screen off mode. 2) about an hour before bed, no screens, take my anti-anxiety meds, magnesium, and melatonin, light a candle, take a hot bath. 3) while relaxing in the bath, listen to music, an audio book, or read on my kindle or a paperback. 4) take my time with my evening routine, avoiding hurrying because it's stimulating 5) cuddle and talk with my SO before lights out 6) after lights out, use a knee pillow and and sleep headphones to listen to relaxing music or guided meditation or self hypnosis tracks.

Using this routine, I'll usually sleep from about 9 or 10 pm until 1 or 2 am, then I'm frequently up for about 2-5 hours, then I'll catch a nap if possible around 5 - 7 am unless I have to go into the office. If that happens, caffeine is my best friend to get through the day. Some nights I get 3 hours of sleep, some around 5-8.

I’m a night showerer. So I take a warm shower, put lotion on, brush my teeth, face cream. Also need to fall asleep to a sitcom but not necessarily watch it so I turn it on with the screen away from me and the volume nice and low. I have one lamp I leave on after 10pm. Get into bed and just browse on my phone a little. I had insomnia before and doing the same thing every night helps

Best tip - do things that you would usually only do on holidays. One of the reasons people get so stir crazy and keen to travel is because they only do fun adventurous things on holidays. If you replace the endless brunches and coffee hangouts with a skill and/or adventurous activity you get rejuvenated for living. It’s actually more restful than Netflix and basic socialising.

Xanax if it is stress related. I take it at night sometimes for my anxiety. ZzzQuil works great to for temporary help.

Why? If you have anxiety and you have a prescription, why is it a horrible idea to take your medicine to help you sleep?
ZzzQuil ís also what people have taken for years. I try not to take either one every night, but why not take it if you need it. Your whole day is better if you slept the night before.

I use unison or the cvs equivalent and only take half a pill . Usually helps to get a good night sleep and helps me get back on track . I only do this sporadically to reverse the bad sleep trend .

I started working for a company a few months ago and my working hours have been crazy. It has now gotten to a point where it takes a serious toll on my mental and physical health. Tried to flag to my manager a few times that my workload has been unbearable but I always get a hard push back. Should I jump ship and quit? Hey folks, I am new here. Need some advice. The situation is, I just have 6 months of work ex. A week before, I was retained by my company against an offer with almost 80% hike. Though there are no legal implications, the management has warned me against moving out for at least 6 more months. And yesterday I received a c2h offer from Deloitte. In a dilemma because obviously Deloitte is something I can't say no to. Any advices?
