Guidehouse fish - GT is doing a miserable job at giving us the brass tacks info on what to expect when we become GH employees. Can anyone share what utilization requirements are by level over at GH? How much maternity/paternity leave? PTO/FTO? Do you have an end of December firm holiday like GT does?

Anyone works at Goodwin? I've been
interested and applying in the last few
weeks, so far, I am intrigued. I'm currently
in the LA area, I'm planning to stay but l'm
open to relocating either SF or the New York offices as well. If any can connect to their
Recuritment or Talent Acquisition Team or
any references, information or
connections! Let me know! I can also be connected on LinkedIn as well!

What would you do if you could not fail??!
What makes their life commitments more important than yours? Advocate for yourself and the PTO you’ve EARNED through hard work. Same as them. If the team needs more people, leadership can replace more than 1 of the 3. Simple as that. No one will hand you the opportunity on a silver platter. You deserve it girl!!

Absolutely this. No one does this to us but ourselves. Prioritize your life the way your prioritize your clients and projects.
Just say you are going somewhere and tickets are booked

Remind yourself that if you quit, they would somehow find a way to replace you. We work for some very large companies (deloitte) in this bowl and as fulfilling as the work can be, we are the product for leadership to sell. You "owe" them nothing more than you already give and your contract makes clear they owe you pto.
Go! Travel! Do things that make you happy 😊
I know it seems hard to do but this is the time to please put you first. Do NOT let this PTO expire
Do you have a good relationship with the project partner/lead?
You deserve and need this time off. Just talk to the partner or whoever the lead Is, and come in with a plan on coverage. But be clear and position it as something like “hey, I’m burning candles at both ends and need this vacation. Here’s the plan I have in place for coverage but this is something I wanted to talk about with you first.”
Also probably emotional b/c I’m single and aging out of childbearing years so it isn’t like I’ll get my turn and also reminds me of the fact of my lack of partner/kids which I’m apparently sensitive to!
Take the scheduled family vacation. Do not let that go! Use your PTO, try to find something else to do that you can look forward to doing on other PTOs, too.
Their going Out on family leave should not mean that you do not get to use PTO! We all desperately need that right now.
It reminds me of a story from years ago: I was in MBA program (night, PT) and I got the opportunity to go study in Oxford, England, for a 6-week semester. I thought I could take a combination of vacation and non-paid time off. When I asked my manager, he declined because there were 2 other people on my team out on maternity leave. So I did not go. Looking back, this is one of things I most regret not doing. I should have pushed back and done it. Chances are, I would have kept my job and they would have had to make it work.
And, to the other people ranting on a different post about how much maternity leave You should get after having a baby, think of the people who have to fill in for you while you are out. In above case, I did not have children yet. (Female, if that matters).
Peeps, sorry, I was not in any way trying to say that it is easy recovering from baby. I had twins in my 30s so I get that!
Focus on getting your PTO instead of getting angry at the rest of your team. They are advocating for themselves and so should you.
You don’t need to go anywhere to take PTO. Highly recommend a staycation for a few days if you aren’t comfortable traveling. Even take a Monday’s or Friday’s off for 3-day wknds, it’s the best!!

Sis go on your PTO. They will be fine without you. It’s their job to cover and handle things. Put yourself and your personal life first. You deserve it. ❤️
Get and take the PTO and ask for more resources on your team. It doesn’t say anything about your ability when your team is short bodies. Advocate for that at all costs.
PleaseDO NOT TRAVEL during the pandemic. So many people are dying. Be kind to yourself and others by taking a safe socially distanced road trip.
