Slightly odd question, but I'm going into cyber consulting as a graduate at Deloitte - what laptop will I be provided? I've been told it's either going to be a HP pavilion or a Macbook Pro and been eyeing up buying myself an IMac for personal use if I'm getting a MacBook Pro for professional use.

Probably the HP

Hp for sure. DD only get macs

No. Deloitte digital

Oh my bad, cheers for the correction - so even the rest of Deloitte consulting would get the HP? Weird in the initial communications that they state you'll either get a MacBook Pro or an HP Pavilion if it's such a small subset who get the MBP

In some cases other folks get it like data analytics etc but it depends on team and the team submitting business cases to get the MBP. Reality is to use the firms software etc properly a PC is the best option. Macs are a ball ache.

Yeah I'm aware - fair then, I reckon I'll still go get an IMac. Cheers for the help

How are McKinsey and other MBB firms doing? Any layoff/furlough in any department?

likehelpfuluplifting

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

As an interviewer, I find it very awkward when an interviewee has on a button-up with a tie and jacket. Heck, even just a button-up. Why do you wear that at home? Put your polo on, relax a little, and don't sit their like a stiff in your apartment bedroom with a fake background.

Can someone explain to me why the government doesn’t just freeze rent and mortgage payments during coronavirus and then provide unemployment to those who need it? Seems like everyone could get a temporary free pass if the fed on down forgives loan payments throughout the crisis, and unemployment benefits / stimulus provided to individuals could be significantly lower without having to factor in rent. What am I missing here?
