What is the highest TC you've heard of at FAANG?
I have two offers:
-$165k with a City of New York agency
-$130k plus $5k signing bonus with EY Gps
I feel ho-hum about the government job because I’ve been doing it for so long, and also the option for hybrid work is uncertain. But the salary and benefits are obviously appealing.
Any thoughts, especially from those in private consulting?

FTC lawyers right now:
Wow, the sense of entitlement here is absurd
In an industry that is ostensibly a meritocracy, is it “entitlement” to wonder why another employee I’m regularly outperforming has greater compensation in the form of a much nicer vehicle? If your year-end bonus was half that of a colleague, would it be “entitlement” to wonder why?
That said, I’m more concerned about a managing partner outright lying to me about compensation within the firm - I didn’t ask for that information, he just volunteered it. In a small office like this, is it normal for management to misrepresent compensation in that manner?
At least your company car is not an electric scooter. You’re not being materialistic — a hyundai is an odd choice for a company car in a profession so obsessed with prestige and optics of success
Also, why is there a conspiracy about company cars at your firm? Something smells fishy
Exactly my question! It’s a small regional bar and I don’t have many peers I can trust to run this by - is misrepresenting fringe benefits like this normal?
And I’m not materialistic, but I am miffed that my car is about 1/2 the value of the next cheapest car in the pool - an associate attorney three years senior to me who works hard, but whose fees generated I’ve absolutely demolished year after year. She also lies to me about whether her car is a company car.

Be glad--perks like this are taxable if declared!
Maybe 3 years from now you can graduate.
Hyundai Santa Fes win tons of awards!!! I'd be stoked to get one!
Love the car and certainly appreciate the perk, I’ve driven beaters all my life and a new car of any brand is something I’d never do for myself… but it’s more the concealment factor that concerns me. Is that normal?

Bruh delete or now they’re going to have to withhold for the fringe benies :/
Is THAT the reason for the secrecy? I mean a routine audit would reveal that - the cars are all in the company’s name. Am I at risk here of being personally liable if they haven’t been withholding on the car? All things that I would think should be discussed as part of the deal, but instead it’s hush-hush…

In small firms relationships are just as important as billables. They probably have a better, or longer, relationship with the senior partners. Be happy you have a car, that’s not something a lot of firm do.
