Client smiling at you when you are working your ass off day and night while he has a decent life.

like

Wait that's a lot?

like

That's about 1 week in NYC. Unreal.

like

Just wait to submit overseas expense reports 15K easily

like

What do you expense for compensation?

like

And for the record, I'm stingy as hell regardless of who's paying for it. I think that's a product of our environments growing up - I'd gone to bed hungry many a night growing up, we weren't necessarily piss-poor but we were definitely broke. So I think you develop a certain general attitude about that kind of thing (as well as the inevitable chip on the shoulder). I'll never be someone who spends money just for the sake of spending money, it's just not in my character, and never something that I can see myself taking for granted in any circumstance.

like

Haha, ditto at that being a week in NY.

like

OP guess that wasn't the response you expected.

like

I'm in Columbus and mine are almost 2k a week. That includes flight though.

If it's honest, then it is what it is. Just do it honestly. Our professional integrity depends on that.

like

3k for 2 weeks? Were you sharing your room or something! Too less brah!

like

Like shit is this North Korea or something

like

Jesus that's obscene lol how did you spend so much

like

Yea, that's pretty low overall...I just hit send on a $5.5k expense report for the last 2 weeks

like

Yeahh not to pop your bubble but that's pretty average bruh

like

That's below average for me but I'm in SF

like

The international ones can get to be absurd. Spent time in Geneva (notoriously inflated) a few years back, and ran an expense report through for $25k for about 18 days of work.

like

The fuck did you spend that much on? Caviar every night?

like

Hotel rate was about $450 per night, so that was a huge portion of it. Cabs to and from client site ~$100 each way. Couldn't get anything decent for less than $75-100 per person for dinners. We ordered dominos a few times for lunch, and that shit was $45 for a large pepperoni pie, I shit you not.

like

Where is there a dominos charging 45 a pie?! I wasn't looking to call you out, didn't realize hotel was included in that sum but damn can't find good food under 75 bucks that's rough

Did Deloitte have a late-night Uber policy before the pandemic? Joining in a month and also moving and wondering how much I should consider it. Has anyone moved from a H/MCOL city to a small town or rural area? Any regrets in regards to career progression, networking, or lack thereof? I'm thinking of making the move this winter in order to cut my housing expense by more than half and to put my daughter in better Catholic school. My employer doesn't care where we live so long as we can get to an airport. I grew up in a small town, so it wouldn't be a shock to me, just worried about how it may affect my career trajectory.

It really bothers me that I'll never have the confidence men do, and I think this will impact my career. Things like self-promotion to the right people, being highly confident in my abilities (rather than focusing on risks and mitigations), and just naturally walking into every room like I belong. I know these are not only qualities of men and I can develop them too. I'm just frustrated & venting because it feels like I'm trying so hard just to achieve the same goals. Anyone relate? Any wisdom?

Need a birthday gift idea for my dad turning almost 70 this weekend! He had always been a cheerful, sociable, health-conscious person until he had an unfortunate heart condition last year and is practically disabled now. Need a live-in nurse to help him walk, shower, etc. His mind, cognitive is still great. He’s very low-key, down to earth, and always say no need to get him gifts. I want this birthday to be very special for him and make him feel optimistic about life. Appreciate any views -x

I am seriously just trying to get clarity and not do any bashing. Why do all my MBA friends (every single last one, sample size-8) who went to Deloitte hate it there? They won’t tell me why (I think between confidentiality and sadness) other than that they hate it. My friends in other places seem to have mixed opinions.

Has anyone here used a service to help you find a new job? I’m looking at one where they source and apply for jobs for me. They’ll also help me rework my resume, LinkedIn, and other materials, as well as interview coaching. I’ve been looking for a new position on my own with no luck for the past 6 months. The downside of this service is they charge a commission based on the salary for the job they place you in. Thoughts or advice?
