So a lot of experts are predicting that the true number of covid infections in the US is 10x as high as what's on record. That would mean that nearly 70 million people have already been infected. Does anyone else feel that this number is too high?

The best modeler of covid-19 in the United States is Youyang Gu with a 6 month plus track record of accuracy at this point. He is suggesting about 50m people have been infected with a range of 40-85m.

They’re right that it’s more than the official numbers, but no way it’s 10x. Probably more like 2-3x.

By doing a blanket testing of an area. And then seeing of all the positive tests, how many people were tested before hand

like

I believe total infections are much higher, obviously you can only report cases from tests. I also believe that total COVID deaths is much lower based on loose guidelines on what qualifies as an actual COVID death. So the fatality rate is much much lower than what is being portrayed, especially for the younger healthier population.

funnylike

Because people that think the deaths are too high are missing the reality that we have well over 200k excess deaths already this year. COVID was the reason over 200k people have died this year than in a normal year.

I agree with SC1 on the case count portion though.

Didn’t you hear potus last night “it will just disappear”..... 💁🏼

Sadly “he” has a lot of people listening to him.

So it’s probably not that deadly?

I got antibody testing in August after having no symptoms other than a dry cough in all of 2020.
I tested positive for antibodies.
Up to that point I have not had exposure to anyone I know had been diagnosed (positive PCR test).
My test will not be included in any numbers because my state doesn’t report antibody tests.
Those in charge at the state level don’t want to know the full situation, it doesn’t line up with their narrative of emergency power.

I just logged in for open enrollment and see that my benefit costs are increasing quite a bit. Family of 4 - medical/dental/vision will be about $345/pay period plus whatever I contribute to my HSA. Is this the norm now or is this way too much? We are also on an income based rate plan and I recently crossed into the bottom of the most expensive tier so it’s an even bigger hit over the normal YoY increase.

I’m in assistant manager at a company that sells dog and cat products. Our facility is overrun by mice and everywhere you look despite us cleaning between 4 to 6 hours a day (which takes away from what we could be doing normally)there is mouse fecal matter and pee everywhere. I have approached the company numerous times to bring in a cleaning crew and they expect us to do it. Despite the health concerns, they have ignored of my messages. Just wanted to share this with people who would understand. Had 4 IEP meetings last week. When the case manager asked one mother if she had any concerns she said her only concern was that her kindergarten son with autism loved me so much she was afraid of him being promoted and being out of my room. I told her not to worry, in our program I will have him for 2 more years. Boy that made me feel good.
