I still find it adorable that you people think weâre insulted when you call us âliberals.â Anyway no one is celebrating the failure (for now) of diplomacy (again), because we understand itâs a really hard problem that politicians from both ends of the political spectrum have struggled with for literally decades. You could go back to where many of us were among the first to give credit for what was looking like a promising development that trump certainly influenced, but we also advised a âwait and seeâ approach to see how it turned out. And here we are.
What we are âcelebratingâ is the (again) astounding hubris and hypocrisy of Trump.
The question is how South Korea, China, and Japan react given we cancelled without consulting them. If they view our actions negatively, it risks alienating them and reducing their likelihood of coordinating on sanctions or other actions in the future
C1 whoâs celebrating? Only a conservative could make that leap in logic.
@C1: Piss off. NK was never going to give up their nuclear weapons - itâs their only deterrent against forced regime change, i.e., what Trumpâs national security advisor was proposing.
C1 not sure if facts still matter to you.
@C2: Not to mention the petulant, emotional, and impulsive approach he is taking to matters of war and peace. That couldnât possibly end badly, could it...
Thanks @BAC1: Black humor is a survival mechanism at this point.
Only a liberal could celebrate the fact that NK will possibly retain nuclear weapons and the possibility of no peace on a unified Korean Peninsula.
Iâm already tired of winning
C1 "possibly retain nuclear weapons." Lol. Like they were ever going to give them up. Apparently the only two people who thought that was possible are you and Trump.
@VP1: What negotiation? They never got to a table
Treating diplomacy like a game of conquest is insane, @VP1. Trump isnât playing 10-dimensional chess here, heâs immature and out of his depth.
@VP1: Reported. đđťyour misogyny.
Even lefty business Insider knows better than the liberals here. What did NK gain from the cancellation? Back to maximum pressure. What did China gain? They were plotting with Kim and trump sensed the trap. Now the trade war may back on the table. What a day and Knight difference from the days Kerry relentlessly begging for a deal?

No, that wasn't the only concession VP1. Again maybe watch something other than Fox. https://www.vox.com/2018/5/18/17368468/north-korea-trump-usa-south-korea-b52
"Trump pulling out of the half-assed, totally unplanned meeting he should've never agreed to in the first place is a big win! Shows strength! MAGA! Suck it libs."
And I believe that anyone who thinks it's just about Nukes is dense. Surely I can't be the only one to notice that Trumps proposed economic interactions with China almost always predict how the NK thing goes.
Jesus, who brought all the cupcakes to work đ. Lighten up. Negotiations are intense and involve back and forth.
Deep Breath...Inhale....Exhale...now Repeat after me MMMAAAGGGAAAAAđ
Exactly D1, itâs all part of the negotiation. Look at the forest, not the trees, grasshopper.
Itâs like dating and sex. First you need to court your conquest, brah.đ
@VP1: Bolton? Seriously? Câmon. The guy wants to bomb Pyongyang back to the stone age. Calling me names and trying to feminize me like itâs an insult doesnât make your case any stronger.
