So all during FSA testing they pulled our teachers to test other grades. No subs were used, and instead they forced us to cover for these teachers. I was a “buddy” teacher the entire week and had a double load of students in my room. They did not pay me and said coverage does not get extra pay.

Good afternoon! I hope everyone felt appreciated this week and always! I am sharing this because I’m not sure what to think. The administration did some small things for us (soup and schmooze which i wish were soup and snooze LOL) but in a week which was very stressful for us with Ap exams coming up etc, we were asked to show our appreciation to each other via emails, or some special way. Nice thought, but we kinda do this every day…. Aren’t the students supposed to say thank you? 🤷‍♀️

I'm seeing a lot of teachers post that one advantage of remote teaching is fewer disruptions. While this is true, I also notice less engagement. I have students who are clearly looking down and doing something else (probably texting on phone?). Now that I can't ban cell phones in class, what can I do?
