So annoyed, after 2 interview (2weeks) I am here waiting on a offer and then this company said I have to do another one "last one" (when I clearly said, more then 2 interviews plus the recruiter one was a turn off for me)

And it's not even that great of a job it's a 12month contract to hire... I am this close of just backing out because of the lack of transparency... am I being unreasonable?

Based on the fact that you’re not really passionate about the role, as a hiring manager who wants to fill a 12-month contract with the right person on the team, I would appreciate it if someone who wasn’t really into it or concerned about fitting in to drop out of the process so that it is a win-win on both sides.

Count yourself lucky that it’s not 8 rounds of interviews and they tell you to wait a few weeks for an answer. Definitely take the interview if you want the job but walk away if they continue to play games. Good luck!

Often that additional one is because they're tossing up between you and another candidate, or sometimes just because the hiring manager is new or the senior stakeholder wants to get a read on you.

Imo horse-trade a little. You can ask what the aim of the interview is, and how long they actually need for it. Articulate that you'll try to adjust to make some time for it but things are busy on your end.

This is powerful when you:
1. Are kicking ass at your current job (shows commitment).

2. Have other interviews.

If you don't have leverage like other interviews or a great existing job then I'd swallow the pride and jump through the hoop. Often it's the difference between getting a great offer and no offer at all.

I faced something similar with a take home assessment recently.

If you're not vibing then just walk. That's not being unreasonable, that's looking out for you.

likehelpful

If you have other offer in hand, then don’t bother. But if that’s the only one in the process, probably worth sticking to it

likehelpful

I think it’s justified if you do or don’t go. It’s up to you. Or, if it’s truly does bother you, you can lightly ask if there has been a change to the agreed upon interviews

likehelpful

If you don’t care about the job then why continue on? I guess what I understand is why you would take the interview since you seem pretty lukewarm on the opp and they clearly don’t have their sh*t together…

helpful

If you don’t want to jump through the hoop, don’t. 🤷🏽‍♀️ As a PgM, you know that things change and being okay with change is a big driver for this kind of role. Clearly ambiguity annoys you so meh, move on. ☺️

Agree with those above, I also think this period of time is not fantastic to be doing contract to hire roles… if the recession comes in as hard as it is already showing it will C2Hs are some of the first to get cut. But I’m a job security is 1-2 on my importance scale, so that may just be me

helpful

Nope. Not unreasonable.

like

Lets go the other direction. Temp work is either order fulfillment or wish fulfillment . IF order, then they need body in the chair now & do not waist time with interviews. If Wish, then they have time to waist. Call them on it & challenge them.

Question always is can you afford to?

Career coach here. 2 max is a strange, arbitrary rule. What’s the rationale? If you’re asking for $170k, they should feel comfortable moving forward. Plus, I always recommend using the interview process to properly vet the opportunity on your end and make sure it’s right for you. If you feel you can all the info you need from speaking to only 2 people, that’s fine, but personally it’s never been enough for me. Glad to hear you got the offer!

Thank you, I have found that more interviews dosen't equal better companies or better positions... with my prior employer (2 employers back, before covid) I did about 10 interviews, 2-3 over the phone and they flew me to their corporate... I did the rest in person and had to do a presentation to the VPs... It was 20 candidates, I got the position and it was a good company i stayed for 4 years but the career growth was not there even though I was a top performer constantly and that was the main reason I got with them...

I also hire people and I know it only takes 1-3 times for me to know if I would like to hire someone...

With all of that being said, it's not set on stone but it is more so I don't see the benefits of going through a lengthy process vs not.

Stick to your gut instinct

@OP any news on this? Did you get the job?

OMG! let tell you... I ask the recruiter if he knew why the change of heart/adding another interview... and he was very short just like, "this is the last one" (part of me just thinks hes been just telling me what I want to hear to keep me in the running) and I was like do you know if they are interviewing more people or something?... and he was like I don't think so...
I agree to the interview, the day before it. The hiring manager ask me to reschedule to the next week and on top of that, if it was okay to also do ANOTHER interview after that... At that point I was like sure... (people in the interview were very nice and the work sounds very exciting... hence why am putting up with it)

Today I got the offer, they are in a rush now since they took like 3 months to fill the position, 1 1/2 months do this process with me... originally I ask for 150k, I ask the recruiter if he thought the company would match the 170k offer I got for a different company... he said they would... So I should be starting 11/7...

Will see if the 5/6 interviews were worth... haha

Thank you for asking

Hey there! I interviewed for experienced hire M, Consulting at Deloitte UK more than a month ago. Despite multiple email conversations with the hiring manager, they seem to have more interviews scheduled for the role. Is this bad news for me? Is the hiring process being this slow characteristic of summer or are my chances of getting hired just fading out? Got great feedback from both rounds of interview and the final 20min presentation.
