Hi there,
If you or someone you know is hiring for an Internal communications lead focused on employee engagement, I’d love a connection.
I decided to leave my company without a new role lined up to focus on finding the right fit. I’ve been lucky to land roles where I wanted to stay for years, but unfortunately the company culture didn't align with my values and was not the right fit.
I help leaders and teams inform, inspire and connect with their employees.
Thanks,
Myra

Stuck in a similar situation. Except my project lead refuses to take accountability for his decision, is very vague about direction, and yet plays the “manager” card at his convenience
... he has been in US for 15 years .. though new to consulting... But one would expect him to have learned US work culture norms.. no?
had same issue with a french manager... also 10 years in NA... "i outrank you, thus you cannot question me"
.....or Latin, or SE Asian? Malcom Gladwell wrote about this topic regarding the 1997 Korean Air crash.
My experience is endeavor to learn about hierarchical norms across the global cultural landscape out of respect (and to better team), and then adapt a different approach for communicating with those that are more vertically wired.
Our firm is super hierarchical. Where is the surprise there?

All work cultures have their pitfalls but be a Roman in Rome. Agree with OP
OP same situation here as well.
What are you planning to do about it!?
Can you share a concrete example of this behavior ?
