If you fly out of the country and fly back in, you can go for the interview I believe

Still valid as of last month. If you choose this route though, plan ahead, check places like Reddit to understand any issues with the specific location, and allow lots of extra time.

I didn’t need this myself, but I saw someone who wanted to use this but thought they could just do it randomly in 5 min and they were stressing about their ride waiting outside. At that time, it was a 1 hr wait (JFK), but that’s way better than waiting for a couple of years or checking the system repeatedly for reschedules.

Keep checking. Appointment availability can change by the hour. They only list appointments a few months out

Try another location?

You have to check literally every day multipletimes a day. May be close to impossible now that the holidays are coming up. I signed up for airports in other states until my home airport had an opening

And as mentioned above, you can get it on a returning trip without an appointment

I think global entry is overrated. I have it and with extensive international travel I don’t think it yet saved me the 4 hours+ it took me to go get the card.

It helped one day on a very busy reentry from Mexico. And it might help coming back from Toronto. It does nothing for you outbound or between countries. And it doesn’t help with customs - just passport control. Re entering from Europe it saved me maybe 10 minutes.

Second the comment about the lines at ORD. During Covid travel days, returning with only a carry-on from travel abroad, I could be from the plane to in an Uber in less than ten minutes while others waited hours. Global Entry is pure gold.

If you're applying for the first time then you're going to have to check daily to spot appt times to schedule an interview.
If renewing membership, process lot faster

Do Appointment Scanner. It alerts you when a slot opens up. You have to pay like $20 for it but it’s so worth it if you don’t want to wait. I tried to schedule global entry back in April, but first available appointment wasn’t till December! AS got me in like a month. Then right when they text/email you there’s a free slot you have to log in immediately into global entry to snatch it.

Oooh, I thankfully got a slot. But I am not surprised that there is a service that alerts you about open slots.

I'm planning to do my interview on arrival next time I travel. Easier than all this chaos.

they only list a few months out. Check frequently though because the appointment availability changes frequently, even only a few months apart. I was able to get one for Chicago eventually

Wow. Really? That's a total pain. Keep checking, OP.

Help! Last minute trip to Hawaii, want to use points. Have about 250k points thru both Chase and Amex (each). Also have Amex Plat.
- Chase is running 1.5x points to transfer to Bonvoy right now.
- Amex has basically the same deal as Chase - every 2 pts transfer to Bonvoy for 3 pts (am I doing the math right?)
- Amex also has $200 FHR/Hotel Collection annual credit for one of the hotels I'm considering
- Could also transfer points to Hyatt, but not as good hotel options where I'm headed

Fall vacation ideas. Wife is pregnant so we’d prefer a laid back trip. We live in Soflo so no beaches. Some place where we can experience fall I suppose w/o the general hiking/trekking sort of physical activities. Originally we were planning northern Italy but nipped that idea due to COVID concerns.
