Yes, I believe so. Unless you’re in tech where sponsoring H1Bs is normal (with technology companies like google, fb etc)
I think the role is equally as important, because even those tech companies don't sponsor all positions.

Yes. Because if you are in consulting, your LCA amendment bureaucracy will not make you lose projects that you deserve. If you are in industry, they will at least give you an opportunity to meet hiring manager because you are not having visa issues. The access increases for sure.

Being on an h1b myself, I feel having a GC will give you a little more flexibility. In other words, changing jobs, getting deployed to a project, etc
Yes, you can join a startup (or start your own), expand your search to so many companies who aren’t hiring H-1B, move to new cities (which also expands your opportunities).
And then beyond that, take time off to travel / spend time with family (or whatever you want really) or try out non-office jobs (e.g. photography)
