So frustrated with the PFS exams. Been taking the certificate path which I thought would be easier as it is one subject at a time but instead each exam is filled with detailed questions on topics that were barely covered if at all. Can anyone comment if the experience PFS assessment is any easier?

Thanks! Good luck!

Hi! Which section did you take? I took the certificate exam earlier this year too and felt the same. I studied the material provided but the exam was so different - didn't prepare me to pass. Are you trying again? How do you plan to study differently? A colleague just took the assessment exam and said the same thing as you.

I work in tax so I feel like the education in the risk management certificate was helpful. Estate planning less so.

If you don’t have a lot of experience using the financial calculator, the investments certificate may help.

No need to take any of those exams. Just get the knowledge and then you’ll see that the experienced exam is so much easier than the certificate exams!

Do you know how burned out you are exactly?

According to psychologists Herbert Freudenberger (who invented the term "Burnout") and Gail North, there are 12 stages.

Burnout has a wide range, from "I can't wait for the day to be over" to having a complete mental or physical collapse.

Make sure you pay attention to your symptoms and not lose track of who you are and where you need to be mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Our firm is establishing our target billable %'s at a small public accounting firm. Is there a website that gives target billable time % by staff level for the tax and accounting industry? Just started poking around the AICPA website, but would appreciate being able to save some time looking for it. I'm used to a lower % rate than what's being proposed (70% vs 85%) and don't want to cause undue pressure on staff, but do want to give a reasonable billable hours expectation going forward.
