So has anyone left a job without having another one lined up? How much savings would you need to have for a worst case scenario? I’ve always heard 2 month’s salary but with the pandemic everything seems so much more dire. I’m not saying I’m going to do this but right now my mental health is at stake.

Yes. It’s easier if you have a SO with an income stream, but even without, you can make it work. In current market, would aim for 6-8 months of a cash cushion if you can stand it that long. My grandmother used to say “you got this job, you’ll get another.”

I wouldn’t chance it with anything less than 6 months. Some companies, it can take a few months to get through the the interview/offer/acceptance process. You don’t want to end up taking something else I of panic.

*out of panic

At least one year of savings. Source: my experience before the pandemic.

Eh this is excessive. 6 months should be fine

I’m considering doing this now and have about 1 year of expenses in cash. Probably overkill, but the peace of mind is worth it to me.

Yeah I’m in my 40’s...the only other time I’ve done this was when I was 25 and it took 2 months to land a job. I had no savings then...lived off condiments and slept on the floor.

The higher you are the longer it will take. A friend of mine who was a CTO got laid off when the company was acquired. Took about a year and a half to find the right replacement.

2 months of savings? It’s always been minimum 6 months.

This is going back to 2005...so I’m dated. 😂

Find myself at a crossroads . I have an offer for a role in PE but I would be giving up $20-30K in comp just to take the opportunity. I have a lot of senior backing here in my current role in finance , and there could be some additional runway. In my 30s , just wondering if anyone has encountered a similar dilemma. What would you do?

What is an internal equity audit? I knew I was underpaid but this is “bonus” seems bogus and how can I approach HR to ask for a pay increase to 85-90 K which I had initially asked for (offered $50K and backed myself into $60K … I know, but I planned on taking it and going in after reviews to increase to initial ask but then I got the email with audit pay instead).

I'm having a hard time getting noticed by any tech companies (big or small), I'm starting to wonder if my skills are irrelevant or I'm just not advertising myself correctly. I have a master's in engineering physics, worked for an engineering firm as a Systems engineer for 5 years doing RF design and implementation in software, and another 3 years as a research engineer doing simulation software in python for scientific satellites. I feel most of my skills are transferrable, but no luck yet

Hi guys 👋🏻👋🏻
I am filling the onboarding form for my next company IBM where they have asked 2 questions:
1)Were you earlier a member of Employee's provident fund scheme, 1952?
2) Were you earlier a member of Employee's pension scheme, 1995?

All I know is PF and EPS amounts were deducted from my salary in my previous company but how to know if I am a member of these two mentioned schemes?

Thanks in advance for your inputs guys 🙌🏻

How to deal with not being staffed on deals and seeing others in your year be staffed? When asking partners directly for work, they refer you to the staffing partners. When asking staffing partners (repeatedly), they say “thanks for interest, we will have something soon.” Weeks and weeks pass by and you’re always below where you should be for billable hours (at this point, very far below). All reviews are essentially perfect and no negative feedback. Extremely frustrating and discouraging.
