As far as preferred gender pronouns go, I’m all about choosing he, she, xe, ze, whatever you want to describe yourself as - but can we please rethink using “they” and “their” to describe a single person? It gets confusing ya’ll. There’s zero judgement here, just grammatically speaking it introduces so much ambiguity and misunderstanding into the English language. That is all. To all my friends and colleagues supporting the D&I cause, I apologize for the rant but please know that this is important to me: We are Latinos, not Latinx. It’s not a description of gender, it’s a construct of “our” language to describe the plural in the masculine form. Spanish just be like that, as does French, Italian, and German (and others). Stop appropriating my language and adding your colonial English grammar rules to it. Please. Pretty please. With a great big cherry on top.
