All true, but depending on your career and personal goals there’s definitely a right and a wrong time...
That’s not necessarily the case. Depends on the company. There is no set path to the top. I want to punch myself for saying that, but it’s true
I was in PA for 3 years, I don’t have my cpa yet and I got into industry recently. It’s a whole different world. There’s no time limit for when you can leave. It all depends on your work ethic and willingness to succeed.
Thank you!!
All I can say is you will have increased opportunities and better options if you have more experience and better title. Cruel reality is that you need to stay longer for upper level management positions (especially if the company is bigger).
Agree-and you likely get there faster when you jump to corporate at a higher level.
I don’t disagree there are multiple paths. But the path that runs through PA for ten years is well worn, predictable and is understood and appreciated by those who are making the hiring and promotion decisions.
Most importantly, if you have the will and stamina to succeed in PA, then you’ve proven you can go anywhere. If you want to get to the top, you need to pay the price whether in industry or PA. Been in industry and can tell the VPs or CFO work HARD and are driven and energized the more they work.
10 yrs of PA experience. If that's my goal, is leaving PA as a sr asc going to pigeon-hole me in middle mgmt for the rest of my life?
Depends on the person
