I got reached out to about a VC role, but I had never considered VC before. I do Product Management Consulting, but I do have both an undergrad business education and product design experience. What books / articles / sources do you reccommend if I want to learn more about VC? If you have worked in VC, what thoughts or advice would you want to share? Thanks for any info or advice you can share!
Friday thoughts on Strengths vs weaknesses: I have been told that I am solid in quant, but need development on the creative side of things - brainstorming, strategic frameworks, maybe even writing. If this situation can be improved, what should I do? books or videos or exercises? This doesn't seem easy to tackle at all... If this just reflects how I am like, does it mean I'm not fit for consulting in the longer haul (looking at SC, PM max)? Or perhaps I should focus on DD type of consulting?
As a new product manager what books should I be reading? I’ve already read Inspired but looking or more. For context, I’ve joined a series A start up and as expected there’s a lot to do and it’s very fluid. I want to be able to help the head of product as much as possible as well as provide some structure to how we work.
I’ve been asked to be a PM and Account Director in a hybrid role and now have people telling me that I’m not driving the team’s overall vision in line with client goals. I get so stuck in the day to day and have never in 6 months been given one positive piece of feedback. I am truly in shock and starting to feel depressed. What books, blogs or people do you recommend that I go to for help with managing teams? The situation is unfair but I need help to address how I can better manage.
Woo-Hoo! Investment property #4 in the books! This addition now brings my monthly cash flow after all expenses (PITI + PM and saving 10% of the rent for maintenance & insurance) at approximately $1,200 a month. My goal is $1,700mo. Need 2 more houses! Then I plan to buy more for a cushion.

Best books about product management for a good exit to industry? I already have an MBA and PMP but looking for a refreshed perspective since it’s been years since my formal education. Currently reading “Product Managements Sacred Seven” but it’s geared toward the startup world. I am in healthcare and not looking for a startup role. TIA!!!
I’m looking to hire a junior advisor whom is fully licensed and preferably has a book of business in the Plano Texas area. Compensation DOE.. PM if interested.

Anyone advice on whether MBA is worth it for me? Previously consultant at T2 firm. Currently make $125k base (~$140 TC) in strategy at CPG. Interested in working in food tech. 25, female, 3 yoe, went to top 20 undergrad (non-ivy). Would be targeting M7 or similar. Anyone feel like maternity leave affected their raise and bonus? I don't feel like my numbers were adjusted and feel like I am getting the run around
Question for first-generation Blacks with immigrant parents. Do your parents or other family who was born in the home country consider you whatever nationality they are? Do they allow you to embrace the culture? Or do they remind you in different ways that no you are not Nigerian, Ghanaian, Jamaican etc but you are American? I've seen this with my own family and my other first gen Black friends often get this from their family too, so just wondering if this is a thing across the diaspora

So I took the day off for an emergency medical appointment. While at doctor’s office, I get bombarded by messages to send executive status updates. I said I have done most of the updates and other people will need to add their updates before it can be shared (I own sharing this to higher up). Other person comes back saying “Hey can you do this, I need to baby sit for some time” I’m usually very empathetic towards people with kids & understand what it’s like even though I don’t have one, cont…
My fabulous legal assistant is leaving at the end of the year to focus on her mayoral campaign. I live in a very rural area & there are no legal assistants around. Everyone applying have just worked at hospital as assistants. I don’t have time to hold their hand. I need someone running from the start. My friend moved back to the area and she is interested in becoming a paralegal. Any tips/suggestions on what sites, online education, etc to refer her to. I’m at the point of hiring a virtual asst.
Not pregnant yet but curious how pregnancy impacts performance, if at all. If all goes to plan I’ll have my first trimester over busy season. Curious how that goes and if any slack is given if pregnancy symptoms are bad
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Opinions and any information regarding billable hours and quality of work life at Stockwell, Harris, Woolverton & Helphrey...anything info appreciated!
Partners and future partners, if you made the salary you are currently making annually, and through increasing client fees and gaining efficiencies through technology, nobody worked more than 40 hours a week, would you be ok with that or would you think you are leaving money on the table and would want to get more and increase hours to 45-50? My main question is if we could achieve 40 hour weeks would you be satisfied or will you want to get hours up to what you’re used to?
I’m mentally breaking down because I have been doing a job of a scheduler, PM, notetaker, regulatory submissions, and thus have no room for growth to work on strategy. I’m an AS and I am so sick of having to remind everyone because no one looks at my notes, recaps, and no one remembers anything from any meeting. Recently because I’m so exhausted I started making more “mistakes” like not catching a mistake on a submission. Is this because I suck or is it time for me to move off? I feel terrible.
