Whats the variable pay at IBM?
Hi ladies, I’ve created a bowl to have men’s and women’s point of view about managing organisations and people, either at our own work place between colleagues or between client - teams. I was inspired to create this as I have very different types of clients, across hierarchical and flat structures, and often in a change management environment there are always challenges that are bound to happen, as consultant. Feel free to join a healthy debate, share your experience & learn from one another: https://joinfishbowl.com/bowl_zn9pwqc43r
I’m 27 and I make 90k and I still feel poor in NYC.

D1, you mean Obama's Syria, right? He is the one who drew the red line, then didn't back it up when Assad called his blufff by continuing to gas civilians. He is also the one who verbally declared that he was taking ground troops off the table, which of course telegraphed how far we wouldn't go, which emboldened our enemies. As I recall, he was also the one who referred to ISIS as the JV Team and failed to appreciate the threat that they posed. You can't blame a candidate you dislike (I do, too) who hasn't even been inaugurated yet for the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
Hi PwC1. You can, and here's why: the world is effing complex. I used to live in Donetsk, so I can speak to how unpredictable violence is. However, we are transitioning from a thoughtful president who, in a difficult world, attempted to uphold what most of us assume is basically ethical, to a guy who is utterly cynical and callous to human tragedy. There is no leader of the free world anymore. I can't believe people like you don't see how fucked up it is.
This is not a god damned pissing contest. People are dying. There is a very serious humanitarian crisis going on. As some of the luckiest people on planet earth, I say that we give these people ten seconds of our time by at least thinking about them. So so sad
So, the politicians f'd this one up, no doubt, but let's take a minute to just think about the people under gun fire right now. At ball games, we'll have a moment of silence to honor people. I think that we should each do the same for the hundreds of thousands of people who have either lost their lives or had their lives destroyed by this horrific conflict.
Sunnies bombing shiites. Saudis bombing hauthi civs indiscriminately. Country in disarray. ISIS and AQAP are players.
I have a masters from foreign policy magazine's number one ranked int'l affair program with a certificate in humanitarian crises. I have worked at the State Department. Get a life.
Hate to say it but I don't think there will ever be peace in the Middle East. Between their centuries-long religious conflicts and our ridiculous meddling in their governments/nation-building, they're screwed. Politicians here have all this outrage over Russia supposedly meddling in our election, meanwhile we are literally encouraging overthrowing governments, which is almost never done peacefully.
It's awful OP- not sure how to help
Also, by open arms, do you mean bc they were given them stolen humanitarian aid and were the only one who could get to them since even aid organizations couldn't deliver it? Or are you referring to 2012 when ISIS gave kids ice cream?
Nobody's life matters more. A person in Nigeria's life doesn't matter more than someone in Syria. Our lives don't matter more than someone in Yemen. We are all human beings. We just someone won the lottery in life and have paychecks, safety, and leisure time to anonymously debate each other on some dumb app.
D1, thanks. I do see how fucked up it is. I am deeply concerned about Trump. Also, Putin is propping up Assad. It's just that I had an issue with Aleppo being chalked up to "Trump's Syria" when Obama's foreign policy has been a complete disaster.
1) Stepping back from the notion of American exceptionalism
2) Failing to keep sufficient troops in Iraq to keep it stabilized; losing the peace
3) Disastrous treaty with Iran that clears the way for them to build nuclear weapons, and the payment of billions to a regime that funds Hezbollah and considers the US to be the great Satan
4) Participating in the regime change in Libya that further resulted in chaos and a breeding ground for terror. Blaming Benghazi on an internet video.
5) Failing to stand up to Chinese military buildup and aggressive actions in the South China Sea
I honestly believe that Obama will go down in history as one of the worst Presidents we have ever had, from a foreign policy perspective. The world is a much more dangerous place now than it was 8 years ago, and his foreign policy played a key role in that.
Not sure how a simple question posted by @OP turned into... all this. To answer the question @OP, yes it's awful. It's happening across the globe and yes, it's bad everywhere. There are a variety of reasons why this happens to be the headline of the day and many of those reasons do undermine the humanity of others that are suffering but again, @OP made a simple post. Attacks aren't warranted.
ITT: OP gets grief from a guy who knows all because his uncle had the balls to get off his chair and do something to better the world. 😒
And what is Aleppo?
Somehow the only news we get is of aleppo 1 city when the entire mid east is in tears. When mass murderes and graves are found in baluchistan.
OP thanks for the links. Reading the first article brings the reality to life and makes it relatable, because of the personal touch (vs reading about statistics, which can allow one to feel more detached).
Yes, I know what is happening in Yemen. Sorry, but duh
Agreed ^^^^
I'm a huge Obama supporter and sadly, I agree with P1. Maybe not the absolute worst, but I strongly disagreed with a significant portion of his foreign policy decisions, sadly.
What's going on is sad, but I'm pretty sure the US exacerbated the situation so TBH I'm not sure we should be involved (with Syria or any foreign civil war). Who's to say the rebels, who are pretty much aligned with Islamic terrorists, will be any better if in charge?
