D1, you mean Obama's Syria, right? He is the one who drew the red line, then didn't back it up when Assad called his blufff by continuing to gas civilians. He is also the one who verbally declared that he was taking ground troops off the table, which of course telegraphed how far we wouldn't go, which emboldened our enemies. As I recall, he was also the one who referred to ISIS as the JV Team and failed to appreciate the threat that they posed. You can't blame a candidate you dislike (I do, too) who hasn't even been inaugurated yet for the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
Hi PwC1. You can, and here's why: the world is effing complex. I used to live in Donetsk, so I can speak to how unpredictable violence is. However, we are transitioning from a thoughtful president who, in a difficult world, attempted to uphold what most of us assume is basically ethical, to a guy who is utterly cynical and callous to human tragedy. There is no leader of the free world anymore. I can't believe people like you don't see how fucked up it is.
Ita fucking haplenjng everywhere since years. Juat cause cnn amd liberal media have an agenda to back a regime change in syria aince its backed by assad media focusses in specific incidents and plays it 24 hours doesn't mean things are not happening elsewhere. Ppl are dying every minute. Hunger, plague, malaria, dengue, violence, infanticide, famine, etc. Its a shit place we live in driven by political agenda and whims and fancies of the people in power
I'm a huge Obama supporter and sadly, I agree with P1. Maybe not the absolute worst, but I strongly disagreed with a significant portion of his foreign policy decisions, sadly.
What's going on is sad, but I'm pretty sure the US exacerbated the situation so TBH I'm not sure we should be involved (with Syria or any foreign civil war). Who's to say the rebels, who are pretty much aligned with Islamic terrorists, will be any better if in charge?
So if people are dying everywhere, we can mourn those fallen in Aleppo? OP - what is happening is truly heartbreaking (and the same goes to Yemen, Baluchistan, and every other corner of the world where people are suffering).
Yeah, frankly it is pretty disturbing (suspect that that was his intended goal) that SC 1's response to people being butchered is to minimize it and to attack my credibility. Also, there is a huge difference between a conflict and what is currently happening in Aleppo.
You are very welcome. Yes, just heart breaking. Nobody should experience that
Trump's Syria.
Your state dept called em ppl that complained abt snooping as crazy. Yepp we all know what followed after
Guesa what regime change will never happen. Isis will die a rough death and so will the al qaida "moderate" rebels. Hears another thing. Dem rep tulsi gabbard publicly slammed the us for supporting terrorists how abt that?
There has not been a good way out for years
@OP what background do they look for international affairs master's ? I have tech undergrad and a business masters
Btw, thanks, guys. Also, Aleppo actually came up on my project conference call this morning bc I don't know, it is a BFD.
C1- one of the too students in our program had a tech consulting background. There are a ton of interesting int'l affairs and tech opportunities out there, especially if you think about cyber. Good luck!
Also do you know whats happening in yemen?
OP pls educate us abt yemen. Without googling pls.
1. How about you educate us since you're apparently Samantha Power or something? 2. How about you get the point of this thread? 3. Yemen is experiencing a humanitarian crisis that is not that far behind what Aleppo is going through and largely due to similar reasons- unsuccessful political transition from an authoritarian leader.
No one is denying that those others don't matter, but if you saw what happened in Aleppo today, you'd understand why it was historic and what it might mean.
So, 1. I don't have CNN. 2. You're kind of coming across as crazy. Maybe you should go to bed. I know that I am about to do the same.
You should. hopefully you wake up in aleppo
C1- the good thing about int'l affairs programs is that you can apply from many different backgrounds. In general, a foreign language and experience abroad help and/or might be the only hard requirement. They usually require a few fundamental economics and/or stats classes too before you are admitted.
