So I accepted a new job at a higher base of 75k but is it weird in an investment bank they do not offer a laptop or headset everything is done on the employee’s personal devices?

That’s a huge security loophole. That said, my company gave me a big stipend to buy whatever to use for work but it is mine afterwards. That’s the only acceptable solution for me.

Is it weird I find this off putting as it is very difficult to work from home, have to use a personal computer. Which can often lag etc.

Would this be enough to make you re-think a well paying opportunity?

So they're essentially saying that you have to pay to work for them by making you provide all your own equipment. That's a no from me.

This is exactly how I feel! But the salary is 15k higher? Also I’ve noted any calls between colleagues happen on personal phones rather than on company systems as they don’t give headphones (I mean it’s comical)

Ummm that is really weird. I wouldn't like that at all.

Exactly thank you

Also let me add mid tier bank, but all their systems appear behind and old. Only been there a week - should I consider moving again?

I’m exhausted and confused. I left my prior job as a plaintiff’s litigation attorney around 8 months ago after 4 years with the firm because I thought I really was not cut out for plaintiff’s work. I joined a defense litigation firm, but have realized that it’s not the clientele, but the litigation part of the job I hate. I just spent the evening looking for in-house opportunities and it’s looking bleak. Any tips or tricks?

Hi Fishes,

I gave my various rounds of interview in Deloitte USI 2 months ago, and since then till last Friday it was showing " interview in progress" on their job portal, HR said earlier that we are interviewing other candidates. I got an offer from Amazon last week and asked Deloitte recruiter to speed up the process, i didn't get any reply on my email but now it's showing " review in progress" on the job portal. What does it mean? Shall I wait for Deloitte offer or take Amazon's offer.

So just wanted to know if that’s about right?

Company doesn't want to disclose the range they're offering and have twice asked for my current salary (which I've refused to give). They've also said my expected salary is higher than budgeted. So now I've asked them point blank what they're offering but silence so far. Could I've done anything different?

After 1.5 years at the company I realised I am well underpaid. I am well aware that it would be a long shot to ask for a big raise (20k), but at the same time I don’t want to change company for that reason. A career coach told me that with my qualification I could easily earn 40k more per year than what I do. It’s really frustrating knowing that some colleagues without previous work experience would earn more on day 1 than what I earn now. I was a tech consultant for 1.5 years before this. Tips?

Hey fishbowl fam - I manage the revenue recognizing department at a solar company. It’s recently come to my attention that I may be being underpaid by about 10%. Any suggestions or salary comparisons available?

I am coming up on a promotion. In preparation, I've done some market-level research for the future position and found the average salary is approximately $30k more than my current salary. I've been with the company for 10 years in various positions, but 2.5 in my current. My previous supervisor would never entertain any negotiations above the offer letter; stating "the offer is final". I've spoken with other colleagues and its not true.

Any advice for negotiations, and how much is too much?

Originally interviewed for Community Relations Coordinator for set asking salary of $65k. Now owner wants to change title to Branch Manager, increased responsibilities, but primarily still CRC role. Same salary and now will decrease to $50k after one year with an increasing commission rate. The idea behind this is motivation to earn more than set salary. At this point, I need the income and am not planning on staying longer than the year, if that. Is it worth negotiating? Any advice welcome.
