I was in the same position a few weeks ago. Be transparent. Let the other firm (your top choice) know that you’re in the process of receiving an offer from another firm, but they’re your top choice and would like to see if the process can be expedited. Mine ended up getting accelerated and wasn’t an issue at all!

Cool. I will probably end up doing that!

Always tell them ur interviewing with other companies. I find name dropping or even fake name dropping helps significantly. If u need to stall a bit I recommend delaying one of the interviews by a week

How similar are the companies? Often times if they’re competitors they will speed up the process. I was interviewing at one tech company and told them I got an offer at a different one and I got pushed through the whole process in about a week. Sometimes it’s beneficial to tell them about another offer.

Same industry but no really competitive with each other. It’s non-tech.

Tell them you are planning to make the switch around 01 nov because of your circumstances. Leave it at that

Following. In the same boat

If you ask for about a week or so extension I’m sure they’ll give it to you and hopefully within that time you’ll get a response from the other company. But if the first company keeps pushing, and you’re ok with burning some bridges, take the offer, and if you hear back from the second company, leave the first and go to second.

I was in the same position about a month ago

And found out my current place is still working to keep me. If they come back with offer, how do I stall them to see if this other one comes thru? The timing for both will be close! Thx!
