So I could use some advice for my startup. We currently are putting finishing touches on our MVP. We don’t really have any users, but we’re not sure if we should first try to secure funding (without users) or build up the user base first then go for funding. How much value do VC’s place on users before funding and how many users would they like to see for preseed funding. Any feedback is appreciated.

User validation is key and definitely gets investors excited. Definitely open up your MVP to a small set of users and solicit feedback

VCs often assume there will be some bias to friends and family testing the product, so definitely should go wider. Also depends on the product, but would also push to make your first dollar before approaching (also happy to jump in as a tester if needed)

Also seek out advisors, they can definitely help ok they above

Investors want to see traction. Users or revenue. It’s unlikely you’ll get any VCs interested because you’re so early stage and angel investors like to see revenue.

If you don’t plan on getting users you probably need to go for pre-seed money or join an accelerator.

Don’t be surprised if it’s hard to get money if you don’t have any connections.

A lot of value is placed on users. Otherwise how would they know anyone would buy it?

If it’s some groundbreaking technology you might be ok.

What is the product?

Are take home assignments the norm for director of product interviews?

I'm interviewing for a director of product role at a not-for-profit. I'm at the last interview. It is a panel interview, and I will be receiving a prompt that I should spend 3 to 6 hours on and then present to the panel 72 hrs later. I already had four separate interviews with this company, one of which was what was with the acting CPO.

Is this the norm?

Advice needed!! Have 8+ years of compliance/legal/in house experience (not privacy law except HIPAA). I really want a Privacy Counsel role so I took and passed the CIPP/US and CIPM exams this past year. I’ve been offered an Associate Director job at PwC. Is this a good stepping stone to a Privacy Counsel role? How long should I expect to work at PwC before I could apply to Privacy Counsel roles??

I moved from India to Canada 2yrs back. I am happy here, enjoying work, new place and new lifestyle. But, even after 2yrs of being in a new country I have no social life. Couldn't meet anyone new as it's a work from home situation. There are a few meetup groups but being an introvert that I am, it's hard to make friends this way. I prefer a more natural way of meeting people.. like at work or at an institute etc. Anybody has any suggestions?

Would like some thoughts on a 2-br NYC condo my husband and I are considering. $250K HHI (no kids). No loans or debts, both have newish cars fully paid off.

Offer would be for $725K, with 10 percent down. 30yr mortgage @5%. We would need to include closing costs in the mortgage, to keep about $10k liquid. Monthly costs will be about $5k.

This unit is special, very rare (we’ve rented in the area for 10 yrs and know the local market well). Should we go for it?

I have the offer to help build an arm (it would be it’s own new identity) of a business I have worked for. I currently have no investment in this, but I want to bring up the idea of a stake somehow and not just help someone build another business of their own. I want to be part of it. I don’t have funds to invest, but I do have my skill set. I’d love advice on how to start this conversation and also the structure request. I don’t know where to start.
