Talk to me about going from 2 to 3. I feel like 3 kids is such a rarity in this industry that it’s daunting to make the leap. I don’t know a single person in my office with 3 kids. I worry 3 is going take our lives from semi-manageable chaos to complete anarchy. But… I think we want a 3rd. I worked abroad as an intern during the summer of 06 in an African country. My assignment was to work with the local Government on corporate partnerships to help with water conservation. I didn't see the final outcome by the time I left. I later found out my efforts were reworked which led to a private company drying up most of the local community wells and loading stores with bottled water at a cost. I still think about it til this day, especially the friends I met who lived in the villages.

I make decent money and is living in a basement and spending only 6-8% of my base pay in the ny/nj area (including rent). I just don’t like spending money on myself, but I’m happy buying gifts/spending money for other people. Is that being called miser?

Can anyone else here relate to the fear of not ever being “enough?” I am in a very well paid management job I love with an awesome manager and a great team, but I constantly find myself yearning to be a part of something bigger, something global, something more profound. And yet, when I update my resume or peruse listings, I end up feeling so small and insignificant. I‘ll never be Bezos or Musk, but when I’m surrounded by people who have so much more, it’s hard to not feel small.

How important is to get along with significant other’s friends? Finding that we come from completely different worlds ( i’m a consultant and he is in the service industry ) so hard to connect with people i don’t seem to have a lot in common with.
