So I felt my acting manager, my actual manager is on mat leave, was a bit aggressive in her response to me and I mentioned it to her. Now she is like micromanaging like hell. How do I handle this? She comes of passive aggressive but I just ignore because she is not my manager it’s temporary. I couldn’t let this slide without letting her know I felt her response was aggressive

I have a current boss, micromanaging. I’ve combat it by oversharing so she can shut up. That helicoptering isn’t a vibe. Also it screams I don’t trust you. Document it! Keep a paper trail

likehelpful

That’s a toxic behavior, pur your HR in the loop.
Document everything on paper.
And if possible force her to send you her micromanaging requests by email only.

It shouldn’t be.
Or maybe a given HR department is dysfunctional.

After the HR option there are others ranging from senior executives up to legal counsel.
Gauge the costs, it’s better when HR function is dully functional.

I had the exact same thing with a step in boss while mine was on mat leave. I basically said, "if you want to see every level of everything I do I'll start by CC'ing you on every email." That lasted about a week before he requested me to stop. It got better but not perfect after that. My real boss is back now and I couldn't be happier!

like

She’s on Mat leave which is (in most places) PTO. She is probably dealing with the thought of replacement and is highly emotional. I’d raise to her manager before HR. If their manager does nothing then go to HR but know, hands are really tied legally with most leaves and especially maternity.

I recently took a job with a top tier investment manager, which is a step up in title and responsibilities. I went through the typical “notice” conversations with my current employer. My boss, who was a significant supporter and mentor of me during my time at my current firm, told me that he doesn’t think my new firm is “long term” for me. Anyone ever get something like this before? It threw me off because I was hoping for his support, understanding that it’s tough for him temporarily

Looking for feedback: I started a new role as an EA with my same company in Nov 2021 as result of a reorg and the new leader opting to bring their current admin with them. Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!
