You want to build wealth to just say/think to yourself that you’re richer than 99.9999% of your peers? I think you just saying that just shows that you need to stop with the whole rat race mentality and maybe seek counseling to figure out why you have the desire to feel “better” than your peers
Good money, cool work, and awesome people—you get to pick two. If you’re lucky enough that you don’t have to worry about money, your objective should be clear. And while those things aren’t as quantifiable, MY GOD does it make me feel that much better about the choices I’ve made. If you don’t know it now, this’ll become polarizingly clear when you hit 30/40 and the friends/colleagues chasing money are hollow, overworked, and generally unhappy.
I feel like if you have meaningful relationships or hobbies you truly love, you won't not feel this way as much.
Having my wife, dog, and being able to go snowboarding makes me extremely happy and grateful. Much more than dollars in the bank or making a good investment.
Also career paths aren't linear. If you're a high performer, many paths can open up to. Usually when you're not searching too hard. You could easily become a CEO or entrepreneur someday. Just don't put hard timelines on things.
To answer your question after reading your posts- it is very much time to stop.
Invest in yourself here- your happiness seems completely focused on your parents perception of your success.
