So I got another offer. But I accepted an offer with another company and intend to start with them soon. How do I reject this current offer without burning a bridge ? I can actually see myself working there in the future. I love the title but don’t love the pay and benefits. But I like the team and type of work. Anyone got some great verbiage they would recommend I use in my written rejection email ?

You will burn the bridge. Let’s start there. Good news is that the bridge is very new. Unless you plan to reapply in next 6 months, you should be fine

If you are 100% sure about accepting the new offer and nothing will change your mind , just be direct and precise “ thank you for the offer and the opportunity. I have accepted another offer that aligns my career goals better at this point, and unfortunately I will not be moving forward with <<insert firm name>>. My apologies. I truly enjoyed talking to the team and would’ve love to stay connected on future opportunities “

Something like that. Unless you expect them to match.

Call your recruiter and talk. Just like you would want your recruiter to call and give you a reason for every rejection (even though they don’t most of the time), you should talk over the phone first then an email to confirm your decision.

When I rescinded those accepted offers, sometimes I even talk to hiring manager 1:1 and I was very truthful to my decision , whether it’s money, title, career alignment, etc.

They appreciated that and also gave them data points on why people rescind.

I am in a similar situation. I accepted the offer and been working for 3 weeks. But got the offer from other company that I would like to work for. The problem is, my signing bonus is due in 4 days and I still need to go through the background check process and all, what would be the best course of action? Stay until the check is completed but eat out the tax portion of the signing bonus (since signing bonus has to be paid in full by gross amount) or resign now?

The role I interviewed for had 2 recruiters. One covered the beginning and the second covered the end. When we first started interviews, I told the first recruiter my range. She said she’d discuss with the hiring manager to confirm it was ok since it was on the higher end. And now when I just got the initial verbal “you got the role”, the second recruiter told me the amount, which was significantly less. She said she’s going to compensation to see what she can get but in the case that it’s low

It is 5,000 above what I said my minimum was, but is significantly more than my current salary. Thanks for any input :)
