So I have a phone interview coming up for a new paralegal position. I am nervous. Any pointers you could give. I guess it should be less stressful since it is on the phone.

I think of interviewing as playing a role. I am still myself, but interview me is the most confident, self-assured version of me, like the movie version of me. If I go into an interview thinking “I just have to play this role” I am able to fake the confidence more easily.

I also write out basic responses to common questions like tell me about yourself, weaknesses, why you’re leaving your current position, etc. so I am prepared for any questions that can be a little tougher. Also prepare a few questions to ask them so you aren’t caught off guard. I typically ask what qualities would make an excellent candidate, what my day to day in that role looks like, opportunities for growth and advancement, etc.

Regular me is very anxious and not very confident in social situations, but I swear this works. I’ve never interviewed and not gotten the job, I’ve been told I interview extremely well. It’s all about preparation and putting forth the best version of you! Good luck!!!

The usual ask questions pertaining to the work and responsibilities. Don’t be afraid to ask questions you are curious about and do ask about office culture etc. Think of it as you interviewing them, if the interview becomes more like a normal conversation or talking shop then you know the guard has dropped and you can be comfortable. If this happens chances are likely you passed and will get another interview.

Come up with a few frequently asked questions and practice your answers with a friend or by yourself. I like watching self made millennial on YouTube to prepare for interviews.

A few include:
- Tell me about yourself
- Why are you leaving your current role
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years
- What are your salary expectations

Etc.

Just confessing. I’m so f*cked.

Any tips will be appreciated.

Currently, I am a partner at a LATAM boutique firm and we are interested in working with US companies that come to do business here.
What would be the best way to advertise/make ourselves known to them?
I believe we offer attractive services (corporate and employment law) and both my partner and I are bilingual. My partner is an LLM from an ivy league school.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance fellow colleagues.
