So I just came across this on Facebook and I had no idea this thing I do is an ADHD thing.

…I need some doom box accountability and reduction.

I am currently struggling with this. The only solution I've found is to hyper focus on organizing. The problem with that is, it's a one time thing. I can't work on it consistently. I feel like we (people with ADHD) work in sprints. If you can motivate him to "take care of it RIGHT NOW", that seems to work with me. Nothing else that I need to do right now, just this. Boom, off to the races. (For that moment).

I didn’t know either but it does seem hoarding is an ADHD thing loool

Haha I love the name Doom Boxes. My house is still a mess with things all over the place, but one thing that has helped some is that I recently got a file box with various folders inside. The box sits near my kitchen. I’ve done a decent job at filing all important documents in there when I get them. This doesn’t eliminate my other messes, but at least I can easily find the most important things.

Hmmm. I've never heard of this, but it does make a lot of sense. I wonder if there are any proven techniques to overcome this. Probably worth looking into.

This is me 100%

Oh my goodness! I have been leaving doom boxes in every corner of my house long before I was diagnosed with adhd! This never really came through while getting diagnosed. I had zero idea that that was it! I'm shocked.

This is me so much. I’ve been trying to get a grip on it and it is so damn hard.

These so called Doom Boxes are just a pessimistic view of what should be called “Structured Chaos” - as a professional w ADHD, I too have several of these “Containers of Experiences” that at some point, I’ll be very comfortable parting with - I just don’t like being ‘told’ to get rid of them 😬 - lemme take my time and stop telling me how “structure” my life and get on controlled substances like Adderall, Ridlin, Vivance, Concerta etc etc etc

Um, I’m not, nor is anyone else, telling you how to live. This was a post about how:
1. I didn’t know this was an ADHD thing; it’s nice to know that a behavior might not be neurotypical but it is not abnormal amongst the ADHD community.
2. It’s great they don’t bother you; the quantity I have in my life bother me. Knowing a behavior is ADHD typical means I can find solutions that have worked for other ADHD folks vs looking for answers in the general population that don’t consider ADHDers strengths and weaknesses.

My husband just sent in 150$ to his cousin, whose friend who was in need. I keep getting requests for help with charities, go fund me, school pta etc. I am not opposed to helping out when I can, but sometimes there are 5/6 a month. The 150$ really bugs me. It’s not the amount he sent (I would have preferred 50$). But it’s the fact that he didn’t consult me in the amount. He apologized but I am now wondering if I am too cheap.

Deutsche Bank has a fixed rule of max 30 to 35 % hike on fixed component and remaining 10 to 15% variable i.e. total 50% max hike you can ask for no matter how good, skilled you are.

Is it true?

Is this an ADHD thing or something else? Often times when I'm working or doing something non-physical I'll bite my lips or mess with my cuticles, sometimes to the point of pain. I honestly don't even notice that I'm doing it usually until I finish a task or am done for the day. Any tips to keep from doing this, anyone else have the same problem?

GMAT takers. On exam day did you (and do you recommend):
1. Not taking stimulants (after taking them daily) /
2. Taking same dosage / 3. Taking an incrementally higher dosage as a boost / 4. Not taking any for a few days before exam and taking it on exam day

I feel like the parts of ADHD that don't suck aren't talked about that much (and I need a reminder, desperately). The one thing I like is my ability (when I can get my brain to work) to focus hard and get something done in a short amount of time. If I'm really locked in, I can get a serious amount of work done fast. feel free to add yours (please lmao💀).

I’m burnt out from job hopping but I’ve never liked my current job and after a year in the role, I really want to get a new one. I’m finding it hard to get a new one as a creative and I’m running out of ideas of where else I should look. Thoughts?

Whew this group is a relief to find. No one at my job knows I have ADHD, and I only have one other friend with it. I manage a team of people and the stress of checking, double checking, and triple-checking everything to make sure I'm not forgetting anything or behind on anything is insane. I've kind of got the hang of keeping focus during work hours, but I'm just constantly on edge that someone will notice or I'll start falling behind.

Looking for advice/input:

I’ve dealt with ADHD my entire life, although was just diagnosed last year. Throughout my career (assurance>industry>consulting), I’ve been able to “outwork” everyone else in the office to counter the lack of focus and other associated faux pas associated with the disorder. Recently have hot a point where I can’t put in the hours (3 yo/fam), and my work has taken a major hit. Anyone in consulting/assurance have any methods for managing this when it comes to PM duties?

For those who were diagnosed as an adult can you provide some insight into how you were able to obtain a diagnosis. I went to my primary care dr who referred me to another dr who specialized in mental health. He asked me about 5 questions before telling me I should see a neuropsychologist for an official assessment. The referral he gave me is super pricey and apparently isn’t covered by insurance. Is that normal?

Dry skin on your hands after taking stimulants for a while? Anyone get this? Or maybe because of washing hands after going toilet so many times because of drinking loads of water lol

Has anyone else tried Strattera, had success, and a few months later felt like work was a struggle again? Am I imagining it? There are reasons why I should not take stimulants, but I miss that feeling of being a “regular” person at work and so am curious if others have had a similar journey and where you all ended up
