We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

Bad part of being laid off: many many interviews (and of course lack of job). Silver lining: no more virtual company happy hours! I do not miss the pressure to participate.

Is there an app to target specific houses or streets for when they go on market?

There are certain houses located along certain portions of some roads that I don't drive by regularly. But I would love to know if any of them ever go on the market.

I was thinking it would be great to have a Google maps like app that you could browse and select a bunch of houses and eventually get a notification if any of them ever go on the market.

My company has always had SalesForce but it was not really a tool that we used or that anyone looked at. Over the last year my company has put more stress on growth (to be acquired or IPO) and they are now obsessed. I know it is important and necessary and my boss is clearly becoming stressed with our entire team. It seems every sales job posting is looking for people who have blown out their number every single year. I just don’t see how this is even possible, I’ve worked plenty of places where they gave us an unachievable target so nobody hit their number in a given year.
