So I know there is a HUGE debate about remote vs in person return to work and people have very strong personal feelings about it. I’m personally in the 50/50 camp but respect others personal preferences.

My question though: what are others thoughts on if things go the 100% remote direction, why would companies not replace a lot of their employees in HCOL countries with LCOL countries? I see/worry about the push for 100% remote as a huge accelerator of white collar job outsourcing.

Remote as in never going onsite, or remote as we always were before (onsite/WFH but no office)?

Personally either way I don’t see roles like ours being wholly offshored.

Never going on-site and also not just talking about consulting. Why will any company, consulting or other, continue to pay higher salaries when the person can be located anywhere in the world? There are very smart and talented people in much lower cost countries.

I’m not worried for myself as I plan on retiring within the next 10 years and think it will take time for this to happen but I worry for the younger people in the workforce now and even more so for kids. I don’t think all the people pushing for the fully remote future of work are taking this into consideration for their own or kids’ future.

Hey FishBowl Friends, so I’m currently trying to break into tech sales/FinTech and I feel that due to my previous work history, I might not look like the ideal candidate on paper but I’m an extremely fast learner and very coachable. I’ve been a manger at a gym, got my degree in finance, worked as a client advisor at a top 3 auto dealer in the nation and now I’m a project manager at a solar company. I really want something that’s remote and steady, any recommendations on how to spruce myself up?

Currently not a resident of CA, but will be in September. Accepted an in house job based in CA (will be remote until then). CA bar website says I must be a CA resident to waive into the in house program. I called the office and was told I don’t have to be a CA resident.

Can anyone provide insight on whether I have to be a CA resident to waive into the CA bar as in house counsel? Planning to sit for one of the next 2 administrations of the bar, but would like to have this until then. TIA!

Doing a 6-month remote work relocation to Austin, looking for neighborhood recommendations. 28/32 yo couple that enjoys outdoors, walkability, alternative vibes. 50/50 split on grocery vs eating out, don’t drink very much. My New York City lease ends soon, and I will be moving into my parents' home in NJ for the time being (maybe 6 months) to save money while we wait to see the status with WFH, vaccine, etc.

I'm changing my official USPS address and billing address to my parents' home - what should I do from a tax perspective and ensure I'm not paying double stare income taxes?

Is it still considered working in NY/living in NJ if we're WFH? Should I cease NYC taxes from my paycheck (form IT-2104).

We want a micro wedding similar to one of his friend’s “destination” second wedding. They did a small ceremony on the beach and moved to dinner at a nearby restaurant for ~20 people.

A close friend of mine did the same except she rented a night at restaurant for their families, local to the area.

We have immediate family to fly in and local friends, so we can go either route. Writing everything down and it seems like A LOT. What are THE must haves? Photographer, wedding planner? Help 😅
