So I screwed up big time and took an associate role in my current job. I absolutely should have pushed for senior, but I was super eager for a new job and to be back near family. I'm about a month into this job, is it crazy for me to start looking around? I know I could be paid a lot more...

Not crazy. Perhaps more sane to get the role you should be at then spend two years needlessly working towards it.

Any suggestions on how to articulate this in interviews? Should I consider not including the current position in my resume?

If it’s a big company, wait it out. You are back best family so look at it as a way to connect without having too much work on your plate. And see if you can go up for promotion next year.

It’s better to overdeliver and be considered a superstar for for level, than to just meet expectations.

Yea I'm past the point of caring about standing out, just looking to be compensated appropriately for my level of experience

One thing I struggle to remind myself of is you can only lose so much from a bad investment but gains from a good investment are (sorta) unlimited. If your starting position is $10,000 and the value halves, you're down $5,000. But if the value of a separate position doubles, you're now up a total of $5,000. I think learning this will help me reach my FIRE goals by eliminating a lot of emotion and impulse in my investment decisions. What other "life lessons" do any of you have?
