What else do you like about the job and opportunity?
Good luck! I hope it works in your favor.
Keep interviewing in case the new person is not someone you want to work for long term. Startup life isn’t for everyone and after a major round of funding the expectations might be nutty. If a tenured person was let go it could be fine or could be indicative of the new purse holders having new strategy moving forward.
Similar thing happened to me in Feb at a Series A. Hired by CTO and I accepted position to work with him. Within a few weeks of starting, a new VP was brought in above me. A few weeks later, the CTO parted with the company. A few weeks after that, the VP parted with the company (!).
The staffing changes, per se, didn't bother me. Yes, the departures affected my role (i.e., shift in responsibilities, like more "managing up" of executives, but just different, not really better or worse). However, the broader situations within the company that contributed to both of those employees departure... that's what you need to pay attention to.
Did you stay? How did you approach it?
This sucks
