So net 50%+ more than they are making now. However, they have 14 years of fed service, and are 6 years away from pension. My wife and I are trying to buy a house and I’m afraid we can’t afford to live in Florida anymore with the house market spiking. Together we make 230k-250k(her income is variable). So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. Last year I started a Roth IRA. However this year because of starting a new job I will be over the income limit and planned to do a backdoor Roth IRA. I also wanted to rollover my previous 401k funds into an IRA. Would the rollover funds be a part of the limit for the backdoor Roth? Should I open a separate Roth account for the rollover funds apart from the backdoor? I haven’t been able to find a clear answer online yet and would appreciate any insights!
