So I’m a newbie to investing outside of my company 401k, but had a little cash and decided to educate myself and get into it. So I put 20k into a combo ofVOO/VTI a month ago. Today - markets are down, I’ve got another 5k. I should buy now I’m thinking. Are you all buying?

Long story short, I have a bachelors in Public Health/Health Science, and no idea what to do with it. I currently am contracted with a disabilities agency in the vocational services side of things, working for $20/hr with no benefits. I realize this is a very low paying job, but I do not know the extent of the career options with the degree I have. I’d like to ask, what would be the highest paying/most rewarding career options for me?

I have a friend in the Federal government that just got an offer for a VP position at a private firm with a guranteed 30% raise immediately, with a path to promote in one year to senior VP with an extra raise of 20%. How do they calculate how much they would need to make from this new job to give up the 6 years till pension?

Fishbowl fam,
Apologies for this but I’m really confused and looking for some help. My wife and I make about 400k pre-tax (gross income). We max our 401k. Is backdoor Roth an option for us? How should we go about it. Any tips would be super helpful as I’ve read through some prior posts but it isn’t still very clear to me. Thanks!!

Ethical question: let’s assume you have an old relative currently at a short-term care facility with a terminal illness. This relative gifts you 10k of money. You raise the concern that his son will not comply with his generosity towards you. He says it is his money, let him take care of it, there will be enough left for upcoming expenses and proceeds with the gift. Hell breaks lose as son checks his fathers accounts. Last year I started a Roth IRA. However this year because of starting a new job I will be over the income limit and planned to do a backdoor Roth IRA. I also wanted to rollover my previous 401k funds into an IRA. Would the rollover funds be a part of the limit for the backdoor Roth? Should I open a separate Roth account for the rollover funds apart from the backdoor? I haven’t been able to find a clear answer online yet and would appreciate any insights!
