Before you offer up your version of the story, make sure you let them and your manager explain why access was shut down. It could be innocuous and not related to what you’re thinking of.
Absolutely. #whatbluedress
I am always intrigued to read Deloitte posts evidently have yet to be let down
Update: I did, in fact, get removed from the project, but not for the reason I was worried about. Apparently, my failed attempt to install a blacklisted utility (that I had no way of knowing was a blacklisted utility) triggered a security breach and that was that. No recourse. Just removal. My management chain is aware of the incident. Have been appropriately scolded. Onto new work. Such is life. Live and learn.
Doesn’t the agency have an internal software store that only allows/shows whitelisted apps and firewall settings that automatically blocks any other software so you don’t have unintended breaches just like this?
Gosh, we as a country are fucked if this is how backwards our government is. Even a backwoodsy Tier 1 Bank has what I’m talking about.
Is there a security team you can call to alert them to what happened?
Tell them exactly what happened. It’s better to tell them then have the client tell them what they found.
I bet you thought it was funny until your computer shut down 🥴🥴🥴

Why did you put yourself in an admin group?
Exactly D2.
I know it’s annoying to have to call IT for every little thing. But the govt has those controls in place for a very good reason. Agencies cannot have software (even drivers) downloaded onto laptops without their knowledge because they don’t know where the files came from, are they legitimate, etc.
You need to tell your management what happened (and most likely your security team) so they can play damage control if needed.
