I always flew out Sunday afternoon. Get to the hotel, get settled, go have a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant, explore a bit. Was always charged to the project. Never worked for the project on Sunday, but I was far more prepared and relaxed compared to if I would’ve flown in on Monday morning and gone straight to the client site.
Clear it with your PM, but I did this regularly for years and it wasn’t an issue. I live on one coast and had a series of projects on the other, and I’m nowhere near a major airport (so no direct flights.) I basically started working at the airport on Sunday, worked long hours/days M-W, and then hit my weekly target by midday Thursday so I could relax on the flight home and had very little client work left to do by Friday (though I usually had to Zoom into a call or 2.) Still not ideal, but better than a sleepless Sunday night and a marathon Monday and feeling like I was struggling to catch up all week.
This is the way
If you’re flying out Monday AM, you’re doing it wrong bucko.
Wtf lol? How about having a full Sunday with friends/family, and taking the 10 AM flight to the client so you get a half day Monday with full sleep. Lmaoo I did this almost every week for 4 years.
It’s acceptable, but don’t do it. Are you really going to give another half a day to your employer?
The real play is fly out Monday night. More home time, peeped for Tuesday start
Yeah - only downside is I need to get my 3 martini lunch to go on the plane

If you are young, don’t have an SO and happy to have a nice dinner in the place you’re flying to this is a great idea. I never had an issue when folks wanted to do this - because they’d be the first on site at client and charged for the week.
I used the guideline of what would allow me to be in the office by midmorning on Monday. Flying to the west coast, Monday for sure. Flying east, it depends on flight schedules. If I needed to fly out Sunday night I expensed the hotel as it was necessary for me to be at the client site by when they wanted me there.
M1 nailed it. Depends on your situation. No direct flights=all good. Direct flights=suck it up. Especially in the new works order. Expense budgets will be slashed.
I agree.

Depending on client location and flight schedule, I would fly out Monday morning, Monday night, or Sunday night. I tried to avoid flying out Sunday night.
Regardless, I always charged to the client, even if it meant an extra hotel night. Never had an issue.

Personally was getting into the habit of leaving on Monday afternoons / evenings prior to the pandemic.
If you want to fly out Sunday, make sure to clear it with the engagement. If expenses are tight it may be a no-go.
Being West Coast, I used to have to fly out Sunday nights on a red eye. I hated it because it really meant that your weekend ended about 4:00 p.m., when you had to start to shower / pack / get dinner and get ready for the airport. The worst was the summer, because it just cut that weekend day all the shorter.
When I was single I flew every Sunday gave an opportunity to explore, relax etc now that I have a toddler at home unless it was a one off it’s always a Monday flight
Yea I know way to many people who missed to much of their kids younger lives and regret it now.
Of course the company is going to pay for that lol… they’d rather have you at client site bright and early Monday morning than wasting half or more of a day of productivity. I hated waking up at the crack of dawn on Mondays so I always flew out Sundays.

I never had an issue when I wanted to do this in the past but ymmv

It depends on route / flight options. When I had to fly out to beautiful Des Moines each week, I would have to fly out Sunday’s due to no directs
Talk with engagement lead. Depends on client needs, meetings may be scheduled to start on Tuesday to avoid this problem. I’ve always viewed it as cutting into personal time, but occasionally you have to do what’s necessary and fly out Sunday.
West to center or west to east is the worst and needs Sunday pm or Monday on travel. Depending on level, set boundaries with leadership. T-F is much better than S-T too.
Had undergone a lot of personal burn for 8 months, without asking if I could come in on Tuesday instead.

T-F is amazing.
Ease into the week, Friday on site is super chill; leave early afternoon. Way better upgrades as less business travel. Then you’re home on Friday and you’re done for the week.
Did this for 5 yrs. Nobody said anything.. only make sure that you don't talk about it unless someone ask
I flew out Monday early AM once. Immediately requested and got approved to fly Sunday late evenings.
Never again @ Monday AM. Not even when I have a wife and kids, they can all suck it (kidding but tbh not really)
