God did not talk to anyone in this world. Humans created scripts and called themselves gurus/yogis/prophets/messengers etc. And, some of these things are mentioned in the scripts. it is up to us as how much we want to follow the scripts while believing the god.
If I am not mistaken, the reasoning is that during periods, mood swings are higher and may not be in perfect state of mind to follow rituals/pray god. That’s their reasoning behind not suggested to go to temples.
Now, what guarantees that mood swings are good for men/women during normal times. No one questioned that then, or arguments not documented.
I consider religions as a source of morals, social rules for a long time. They created concept of god, fear of god to achieve a social order back then when people are not civilized. And, I think religion contributed a lot to human evolution as individual and as societies... But societies have evolved so much since then, I personally think that we can consider some of the rules in the books at our discretion.
Dude, just stop.
I use it as an excuse to not go to the temple. Whenever my mom says - goto the temple; I say I am on my period 🙈
Some things in our religion are just awesome 😜
Please don’t perpetuate this bs. And definitely do not pass this on to the next generation.
Even better, don't pass religion to next generation 😎
If you go to a church instead, are you Bloody Mary 🙈
The whole period / temple came about to make life easier for women and to relieve them of doing certain things if they didn’t want to. The idea was to not force women to go to the temple when they were menstruating, not to forbid them from doing so, which is what is we’ve warped it into today. If you want to go to temple, GO. There is no dharmic law that prevents you from doing so and it’s not dirty or unhygienic
Religion also provides a sense of community and comfort for a lot of people, let’s not be judgmental here pls
Don’t think they can enforce that in the US
Pretty sure the courts have more power than God in the US. That should speak for itself.
Visit a mosque maybe
We are so candid in this bowl wtf 😂
Where does god say this? Nowhere. It is another tradition that doesn’t matter and is sexist. God is always in your heart and you can go to the temple whenever you want.
I was on my first day period when I went to Rameshwaram Shiva temple (known to be one of the char dham). I was travelling from Delhi with my mom and the night I reached the hotel at the Ramesharam, my periods started. For once, I thought “oh no I cannot go to temple in the morning”. Then I asked my mom whether should I go or not, she said to go and “don’t care about all this, you have travelled from far. You should go!”. I love my mom for this 😊
Wow! Seriously!
Might very well rename this bowl to Anti-PC
What a pointless discussion
Why ? It is sexist custom in our religion and discussing it here enlightens many.
Going to temple is not mandatory, not like it’s a Sunday church.
Kaha fedego ye pap. Ghor Kaliyug.
Not sure if you're being serious, but sad that as times change, some people just get left behind.
Very interesting I wonder if Muslims or Christians also have anything like this
To your question OP - you are the boss of you and you make the call, don’t need to crowdsource an opinion
Not Christians but Muslims yes. If you are on your period you can't go to the mosque and if it's ramzan you can excuse yourself and not fast for those few days
Go if you are comfortable going. What else?
