I love Miami. Right now I’m on my balcony looking out at the ocean on a sunny day. Life is too short to be depressed in NYC for half the year.

Of course my little rising star

There’s a reason why that state is referred to as “FLORIDUMB”. If you want to live somewhere warm and less humid, move to So. Calif. You can ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon.

Hate it. While you said politics aside, that really does bleed into the population here. And summer gets inhospitably hot imo. But I've been here too long so I'm probably just maxed out on Florida. (Lived in South FL for 8 years, Tampa for 2)

I'm looking for a less car-dependent way of life and living near diverse communities, so my opinion is also shaped by this. If I was staying I'd live in certain areas in Orlando or some small gems like Gainesville.

I live in Miami and the humidity took a minute to get used to, but I do experience more endorphins in February than most people ☀️ overall it’s been a great trade off but I wish it had better public transit.

As long as you can tolerate extreme heat and humidity you should be fine. Also as long as you're OK with no topography and pretty much just strip malls for architecture.

I live in Chicago but I decided to try the snowbird life when I started working remotely. I come down to Redington Beach FL (near St Pete) during the winter months. There is something nice about working on my balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico on consistently warm days. Definitely worth it. I am in a building with many retired people and I love it, (I am not anywhere near retiree age). Kind of a break from the hustle and bustle!

What area? I’m in Miami and love it here. I could see myself staying forever, and not a FL native

We’ve been to Tampa and it was nice. Just looking online, but Boca or Delray Beach look beautiful

I’d advise doing a month-long Airbnb or something before making a commitment to moving. FL living is not for everyone… between the humidity, alligators, hurricanes, red tide, palmetto bugs, love bugs, tourists who can’t drive, residents who can’t drive, constant road construction, political posturing…. There are some nice beaches and it does stay a little warmer than the most of the US. (Though you can’t tell looking at the forecast today). Have you thought about the Southwest? Phoenix, AZ or San Diego? Or if you’re determined to be in the Southeast, maybe Savannah, GA? Or Hilton Head? Even Charleston, SC.
