So I’ve been discussing with my coworkers lately, but curious what you all think. Is it DEI or DEIB?

You can't really have inclusion without creating a sense of belonging. I'd rather focus on actions and results rather than semantics/syntax.

like

wow! that's really a great question. I hadn't even considered the "B" to the equation! I love it!

like

What does belonging even mean in this instance? I get that it sounds friendly and inclusive, but that's about all I get from it.

Omg yes! Thank you!

🤔 maybe DEI=B ?

Interesting take! I love the idea

I'm so frustrated. I've been working for 10 years and I can't get an interview for Senior AD roles, but I get tons of enthusiastic calls for Intermediate ones. Im doing the work of a senior now - concepting alone, working direct with clients, guiding the odd junior - and I do a lot of stuff for the community at large that shows leadership (like conference stuff).

I've had CDs review my book and they say my work is great. Why can't I land a senior job? I want to manage, I have good ideas. WTF?

I work at a startup that has acheived a 100 mil valuation in under 2 years. During the pandemic, I moved from SF to Idaho because I love the outdoors. Now after closing a big funding round leadership has said that they need to become more concsious of the bottom line. In that guise, they've said they're going to reduce my salary 10% because I'm in a lower COL city, and that all my other benefits will stay the same. I'm livid. It's not like my level of work or value to the company is going down 10%. If anything, it's going up because I'm happier and more productive. I'm also not getting any more equity. I'm obligated to stick around a bit longer so my shares vest, but a PSA - this is NOT a way to treat your employees in a remote work environment.

I have been in management for the past 8 years and part of large corporations. I just recently joined a small organization that I have wanted to be a part of for the past 2 years, accepted the role of general manager. This organization knew that I don’t have general manager experience, no payroll experience, no experience setting prices, no purchasing experience and today, 6 days after starting, I have been asked to step down due to not being confident that I will be ready in 3 weeks…

I'm currently the Staffing Specialist at my company. I've only been in the field and in my position for 9 months and plan to take the SHRM-CP test in the fall. While I feel confident in what I do, I don't feel so confident in my overall knowledge of HR.

My VP has budgeted for me to receive study materials about a month before the test, but I personally need a little more time to study as I get test performance anxiety. Do any of you have any inexpensive suggestions for study materials?

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

Is it worth it to get a professional certification like SHRM/PHR? Not many of my colleagues have one and it’s not a requirement for my role, but I’m curious if it’s worth it in the long run
