So just had a pleasant surprise to find out that BDO changed a few months ago their paid parental leave policy from Primary parent gets 9 weeks leave Secondary parent gets 2 weeks leave To now every BDO employee after 12 months gets 9 weeks (aside dual bdo parents getting combined 11 weeks) What's everyone's thought and what is the policy at other companies EY PwC KPMG Deloitte Grant Thornton Baker Tilly Weaver Crowe

Paternity leave at EY is 3 months. Maternity leave is 3 months fully paid and extra 3 months half paid. Not sure if they changed jt

It’s 2 weeks before the birth that short term disability kicks in! So for birth mom, 2 weeks before + 16 weeks + 3 weeks vaca. Everyone else (dad, adopt, etc), 16 weeks + 3 weeks vaca. All full pay. You have to be there a year for the benefit to kick in, and there have to be 12 months between the last day of one parental leave and the beginning of the next.

We have a lot of dual KPMG parents. Never understood why they are penalized on leave vs two separate company parents.

12 weeks for GT

Deloitte is 16 weeks

Yes, mothers get 6-8 weeks short term disability (based on whether it’s a natural labor or C-section) on top of the 16 weeks plus you can take PTO, so it comes together to 6 months you can take at once. But the leave itself is 16 weeks.

like

I thought BDO was 16 weeks? Anyone can confirm?

Paid parental leave is 9 weeks and then the mother can qualify for short term disability which would be 6-8 weeks

CLA is 12 weeks fully paid maternity. 6 weeks fully paid paternity.

3 months pregnant. So far I’ve had two ultrasounds at visits. I’ll be 4 months at next visit and yeah I guess I go every month for a visit. Question, do you get an ultrasound done at every visit? Maybe not required but can I ask for it?..

Any reccos on meals that are as fast and easy as pasta with sauce, but are not pasta and sauce? I cook - and pretty well and healthfully - when I have time and bandwidth, but so often by the end of the day I’m just fried, and those 20mins and 2 steps just win out. Added context: I’m a single mom. What I eat, my kid needs to eat.

Hi everyone! For those that feel comfortable, would love to see the breakdown AFC > eggs retrieved > fertilized > embryo > genetically normal (please feel free to include other steps, add in more numbers/details). I've read the averages of how it gets narrowed down, but always prefer hearing real breakdowns. I'm in the process of my first egg retrieval and trying to stay realistic. Really appreciate it!

Why is maternity leave, policy and other women's issues not important as compared to Juneteenth, coed bathrooms, and all the other issues in the media today? Women are half the population and at an average of 2.1 kids per woman, these are major issues. Are we not vocal enough? Organized enough? Not a serious voting demographic? Too grateful things are better in this generation? What is it? Why does 50% of the population matter less compared to these smaller marginal groups?

My wife and I are due with a baby girl in few weeks. Still not aligned on the last name though. In our community it's the first name of the father which typically becomes the last name of the child. Considering she has put in most of the effort and carried the child for 9 months I strongly feel the last name of the child should be her first name though. I would like my name as the middle one. Don't see why this system continues to be patriarchal.

My so is the only kid and he was sure about receiving a decent inheritance from parents as well as aunt+uncle. The thing is he always told me explicitly his priority is to take care of his parents, then aunt+uncle, then the daughter of this aunt+uncle with his wealth and future inheritance (becomes the family money manager). In a way that it makes me feel very low in his priority esp that we’ve started talking about a future together. How would this affect your future financial planning? 💡

Hey moms, How do contractions really feel? FTM and I’m starting to feel a little pain in the lower part of my belly. Given I usually have a high tolerance for pain(after a ton of sports injuries) not sure what is true labor/contraction pain. Trying to avoid a car baby or a lobby baby😅 P.S: I don’t have a lot of pain during my period (which is what my mum keeps saying it’ll feel like). So unfortunately that reference hasn’t helped! Any advice helps!!

Help! There is an assistant that works in my building that is downright rude and demeaning to both staff and students alike. She yells at us for bringing our kids to lunch right on time (when our 30 min lunch begins as well). She always complains about literally everything! We can make complaints for a team of staff and admin to try to correct, but cannot name specific people. I know for a fact a parent has already made 2 complaints this year, but I feel like more has to be brought up.
