So looks like Leslie Sims is the new CCO of Ogilvy US. Anything we should know Y&Rers??

No problem at all of being emotional I value that. Way better than my former cold as ice cco. Leslie is great.

I like how they said her hiring was part of Ogilvy's commitment to having more female senior creative leadership. Did they need to say anything at all? Now we wonder if she was the best candidate or just good enough and a woman. Sometimes I think we just don't get diversity at all.

like

Once you work with her, you’ll realize they hired her because she’s all around fantastic.

AD1 I think you’re missing their point. They should have called out that her hiring was part of Ogilvy commitment to having the beat creative talent around. How it sounds like they positioned it was by saying they were checking some box based on gender quotas. It would have been more meaningful had they said she was the best creative for the job. Think we’re all on the same side here.

likeupliftingsmart

Lol@ half the comments being about whether she's qualified, if it's just for appearances, and her emotional liabilities. We still have a lot of work to do.

likeupliftingsmartfunny

With you, AD1.

I judged at Cannes with Leslie. She was fair, honest, and protected the best work. She’s one of the good ones, Ogilvy are lucky.

Sweet southern women, but is quite emotional (I’ve seen her cry in the office more than a dozen times). Also when I worked under her for 2 years there was never any direction

Leslie is an amazing human, creative, leader and friend. She’s just wonderful all around.

like

Leslie is solid. Don’t know her that well as a person but was great to work with, didn’t find her to be without a POV, just not much of a micromanager which is I think is great in a leader.

like

There is nothing wrong with female crying at the office. Females react to situations differently than men do. And men created the no cry rules. Just get use to it.

likefunny

As a women I find it problematic to cry in office when asked tough questions. It plays into w dangerous stereotype

funny

I don’t think emotion matters at all as long as they have a clear point of view and help make the work better instead of creating endless swirl and indecision. Have heard mostly good things about Leslie

likehelpful

I heard that she is amazing. Super talented and very nice. It’s great news for the agency!

like

Ogilvy 1, because they called out that it's a good thing that they hired a woman, you doubt her ability? If they hired a man and said nothing, would you question his?

likeupliftinghelpful

She is lovely, but is absolutely terrible at feed back. Emotional, yes, but whatever. Account and strat will like her. Creatives might like her as a person but not as a creative leader.

likefunny

CD2, the problem is nobody brings up the discussion of whether or not a CCO is good when he's a man. Yet time after time, a woman reaches that level of leadership and it's all anyone seems capable of talking about

like

The title is chief creative officer. Creative is implied. But at that level nobody is really being hired for their creative ability. They're being hired because they're good managers and client facing. All else being equal might as well celebrate that you're improving representation for a male dominated role.

likefunny

Let’s reframe for a second. “Netflix just released (female)’s comedy special, a big step in our ongoing initiative to spotlight female comedians.” Doesn’t that discount how funny this person is? It hinges a skill on a quality that the skill doesn’t depend on. It’s kind of infuriating how many people are hurting the very causes they claim to support so vehemently.

like

She’s incredible. I worked at y&r for a year and she’s amazing. Such a sweet woman and actually sits down and gets to you know. She’s brilliant. Jealous that Ogilvy has her now!

like

AD1. That’s not what Ogilvy 1 is saying. She/he is spot on and you don’t seem to understand such a basic and important notion.

likeuplifting

She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever worked with in a leadership position. She doesn’t flaunt power and feels accessible. I don’t know what these comments are about her not being decisive. Her feedback was always quick and clear. It just wasn’t mean. Maybe that’s what people are looking for...?

like

You’re probably right

AD1, you are spectacularly missing the point here. It's actually quite impressive. I'd try to set you straight but I'm quite interested to see where you go next.

My joining is in September end. I received mail from Talent aquisition team to confirm current address so that they can deliver welcome kit but didn't get PES completion mail till now. Its already more than one month after background verification document submission.
Can anyone confirm if we are good if we received welcome kit mail or pes completion mail is necessary. If necessary, how much time it will take??
