Just left Big 4 consulting for sales strategy at a Tier 2 tech co (LinkedIn, Salesforce, etc.). Bain reached out today, any good reason to entertain?
Can anyone shed some light on manager comp for PWC's Deal group. High COL city, MBA or non-MBA appreciated.
Guys - Is there a creadit card that offers travel insurance for canceled flights etc. and also offer points for usage and no annual fee?
Can anyone at D confirm or deny? Is this group specific? Hoping this kicks it off B4 wide.
Brainstorming on ways to increase connectivity among teams despite the 100% remote environment we find ourselves in at the moment (virtual HH seem to be getting old). Any ideas and/or things you have implemented at your company?
Going on 5 months since I was laid off and I’m slowing losing hope. I’ve exhausted all my contacts, my network, people not even in my network. I feel that I’m never not looking and I’m running out of options. I know I’m not alone by any stretch but somehow it doesn’t make it easier.
Do you feel like you have to trade between good culture and comp, or do they typically go together in your experience?
How did I just spend $70 at the bar at ORD?
Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!
Stupid hypothetical question...How do industry execs get paid? If I had a $3MM operating budget for T&M and only 5 direct reports making $100K, does that mean I can allocate $2.5MM to my own salary?
You know what really grinds my gears? When the client inserts some incongruous slides in between your perfect slides, disrupting the optimized flow that you had spent hours working trying to attain.
I have a chronic illness and WFH has saved my career. There is no way I would have been able to commute to and work in an office consistently. Now, none of my coworkers even know I’m sick.
Is there some comprehensive doc that maps MBB consulting levels to typical FAANG exits, types of groups etc? Or is this tribal knowledge?
I’m concerned about my mom’s health and want to work closer from home. Is this a valid reason for me to apply to a consulting job that is closer to home? I’m a recent college grad in the US and I’m the only child. My current firm’s office is ~2 hr from my (mom’s) home. I can’t live with and take care of her once the WFH is over. I saw that some of MBBs have offices pretty close to my home (~10 min). When applying to the positions, can I mention that I want to take care of my parent?
Had a baby recently and, for the life of me, can't imagine going back to work. My husband also works extreme hours. How do you parents with demanding careers do it? I'm thinking of moving to industry.
I’m especially concerned with how this is going to impact the legal industry. What’s the best way to cut costs and make my firm more lean while being humane with job cuts?
