I am on notice period with Tata Consultancy with 2 months remaining with an offer in hand where the joining date is just after notice period ends. Now, I got early release from current company and thus, I saved 2 months. But I want to use these 2 months for travelling, upskilling and looking for better offers instead of contacting the new company for early joining. So, if I join the new company after 2 months will this be considered as a 'gap' in my profile in the future and will it be harmful?

It’ll look like they were smart enough to take advantage of a hot job market instead of clinging to outdated and false notions of “company loyalty”

You’re telling me I should have stuck with the 70k salary job I started in fall 2020 instead of the 155k salary job I’m starting in June. NAHHH 🤣
Solid jump BA1! What kind of work is the new job?
Over the course of a 40yr career these would smoothen out. Don’t worry, switch until you’re happy with comp and line of work

Years of experience = / = employee capability
If an employer is seeing high capability in a specific potential employee what’s wrong with giving them a high offer? It’s not like the firm can’t/won’t fire them in 3 years, 3 months, or 3 days if they aren’t performing.

Not sure it will look like anything in particular but having worked with a job hopper it unfortunately shows up in their quality of work, at least until they stick around a company long enough to actually deepen their skillet. Whether or not it catches up with them depends on if they keep moving long enough not to be fired for underperforming

If 3 jobs and 2 years later their resume shows something like: Jr. Analyst -> Jr. Analyst -> Jr. Analyst, that may be an issue. If it shows growth, no issue.

No one cares about my promotion. I wish I had jumped sooner
As they should

Why wait around 1-2 years for the possibility of a promotion with a low raise when you can jump and increase your salary 20%+ in months?
