Currently interviewing for an APM position and have a panel interview coming up. My question is how do you read or identify if your future manager (hiring manager) would support you even after he found out you're gay? Is it unhealthy to "check" for this during interviews?

It probably sounds childish to ask, but I'm in the midwest so it's a hit or miss. What I'm most afraid of is getting hired and then this little detail ruining his willingness and attitude to help me become a great PM.

🇮🇳 gay guy here in early 30s. Been out to immediate family several years now. My parents have their moments but are by and large supportive, accepting and understand what it means to be gay. However, they still think of homosexuality as a dirty little secret, a horrid thing which one should be ashamed of. Moreover, I can tell this has taken a great toll on their well being..life is anyways hard, but this burden just makes it harder.

They're also terrified of extended family or family friends ever coming to know. Obviously, anyone who has half a brain probably has a hint by now but I wish my parents would just grow a pair and let people know what the truth is. I've told them that I can't remain in the closet forever and gradually as I start telling people the word will spread in our super connected world...they just don't seem to understand...keep lying to people about why I'm not married yet...ugh...sorry just ranting.
