So many VC funds out there how can you tell if they’re a good fund to join if they’re not a big name (a16z, Sequoia, etc)?

Look at their returns, you can also talk to folks at firms like Cambridge Associates to figure out which firms are performing better than others

There is still so much dry powder in the market. Good companies will continue to get funded.

Check their portfolio and return profile ok Preqin if you have access to it. Any fund with a DPI < 1 despite claiming to have unicorns in their portfolio is a red flag.

Any other way to check this if I don’t have prequin. Trying to gauge two funds

Portfolio for sure, also partner background...but more so portfolio

Hi everyone, I’m seeking general advice on how to best set myself up for success. I’ll be entering a high earning job (200k salary) at 25, no debt or other assets. I would appreciate any general advice you guys have, as well as advice on retirement accounts:

Assuming I can max out my 401k/Roth IRA, would you guys recommend doing backdoor Roth, or just max out the accounts and then keep the rest of my savings in a regular brokerage? And why?

like

401k loan for first house. Taking $20k to go towards down payment and closing costs. Option 1 is a “personal loan” with up to 72 month payback. Option 2 is “home loan” up to 30 years. With the monthly payments, I lean towards Option 1. Any cons to this other than it impacting my DTI when they see these debt payments on bank statements for mortgage pre-approval? I plan on having the loan sit in savings to “season” for a few months. Does this make sense? I appreciate insight! ☺️

Currently in consulting and I have an Idea for a startup but I dont know how to code. How can I have good ideas and no one to make the “app” or w.e…. Imagine car leases going away (kinda) so building a network where you can trade your car on a yearly basis or less with other peopl. All you do is pay a fee to the dealer and “us” the dealer won’t hold the inventory, you can get a new or used car and monthly payment will adjust accordingly. Everyone sees when leases end and trade availability.

I would love to know about investing. What books or materials would you guys recommend? I want to understand the benefit of contributing to my 401(k) and ways that I can make money. I just don’t know where to start.

Why has real estate remained lucrative?
Mainly agents but also developers.

The barrier to entry is low, not even sure if graduating high school is needed. My old agent even said she did it bc she can make a lot money and not work that much. She drove a new Mercedes and sent her kids to private school, husband was also an agent.

So I’m curious why it didn’t get flooded and the profit margin dampened to a $/hr closer to other jobs with similarly easy entry?
